People Are Sharing The Movies They'd Love To See Remade, And Honestly, Some Of These Are Genius

"I've always had this fantasy of it being remade so people could appreciate it more."

We all know film remakes generally fall into two camps: better than the original or totally unnecessary. Well, recently, we asked the BuzzFeed community which movies they'd like to see remade, but ONLY if they were guaranteed to be good. Here's what they said...

1. Ferris Bueller's Day Off

"It's such simple and yet brilliant plot, and I'd just love to see it brought to life in a new time setting with new actors!"

"I love it, but dubbing the kids' singing with adult voices has always annoyed me. I've seen many stage productions of it, and all the kids can sing very well, so I'd like a modern version like that."

5. Burlesque

"Okay, hear me out... Keep almost everything, keep almost everyone – especially Cher and Stanley Tucci – but change one key aspect. The burlesque lounge is a drag club, and the country girl is a boy, or an enby, or someone genderqueer, perhaps. The roommate with a secret fiancee is a closeted questioning guy, and very importantly, Kristen Bell's character is a bitter old diva who lip-syncs old Broadway show tunes. I swear it would work."

6. Thelma & Louise

"I think Thelma & Louise is such a fantastic film, but because it's over 30 years old now, many young people haven't seen it. A remake today would be amazing! The feminist message behind the film is still super relevant, and I think there are plenty of great actors who could play the leads. Maya Hawke and Billie Lourd could be good together!"

7. The Mask of Zorro

"I'd like to see it turned into something darker and far less cheesy! The 1998 movie was a great concept for a film, but I can't take it seriously at all."

"Though the 1984 film has such wonderful character, it would be interesting to see what special effects and slightly better acting could do with it. It has to be done right, and not be too glossy or completely overdone with CGI like Clash of the Titans remake was."

"I'm dying for a big budget adaption! I really enjoyed the 2002 film, but I think with today's high production values, it would be absolutely sumptuous to watch. Tbh, I think I'd prefer it as a miniseries, but I'd accept a big movie adaptation."

"I want a remake with Catherine Tate as Miss Price and John Oliver as Mr. Browne. I know Angela Lansbury is perfection in the original, and it wasn't an unpopular movie to begin with, but it's one of my favourites. I've always had this fantasy of it being remade so people could appreciate it more. I know it's silly."

"I think it COULD be done in a really touching way if handled carefully. Let Fred Savage narrate to his daughter, Mandy Patinkin do a flashback cameo as the previous Dread Pirate Roberts, and allow Billy Crystal and Carol Kane to reprise their roles. It would also be good to add some more diversity to the entire cast."

"It's a classic, but I'd like to see it remade to be more like the book. Selena Gomez could be Neely, Megan Fox could be Anne, and Margot Robbie could be Jennifer. It would be super dark but amazing!"

"I'd love to see it remade with Beyoncé or Lady Gaga, and the bodyguard could be played by either Jason Statham or Idris Elba. That way, we can have the singers do what they do best! The only problem is, can anyone sing 'I Will Always Love You' as well as Whitney Houston?"
