A 2-year-old was rescued after falling into the cheetah exhibit of the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo Saturday, officials said.

The boy did not appear to have suffered any visible injuries, Capt. Ellen Kazimer of the Cleveland Emergency Medical Service told BuzzFeed News.

"He was a stable transport with no obvious injuries," she said.

Fox 8 News reported the boy fell about 10 to 12 feet into the exhibit.

The boy was first described as 4 years old, but officials later told local news agencies he was 2.

Kazimer said the boy did not appear to have been injured by the animals.

The zoo did not respond to BuzzFeed News' request for comment Saturday.

The cheetah exhibit has since been closed.

In a written statement to local news outlets, Zoo officials said the mother dangled the 2-year-old over the exhibit before he slipped from her hold.

The park also stated they plan to press child endangering charges against the mother, who has not been identified.

Zoo officials said the boy's parents jumped into the exhibit to pull him to safety.
