What Is The One Thing You Want To Hear From White Allies After The Election?

Tell us what allies have said to you and what you wish they'd say (and do).

So, the US elected Donald Trump to be president.

And a lot of people are shocked and upset.

While lots of people are devastated, many American Muslims, immigrants, and people of color are fearful for their safety and their futures.

They're talking about being profiled for being Muslim.

Some are talking about being truly afraid of their country for the first time.

Others are pointing out that the election results feel like a "white-lash" against a black president.

Some folks are trying to figure out how to explain this to their kids.

So, we want to know what, as American Muslims, people of color, and immigrants, you want to hear from white friends, colleagues, and loved ones.

Maybe you just want white folks to acknowledge that their actions (or inaction) helped get Trump elected.

Maybe you want them to acknowledge your fears and anger, and express solidarity.

And promise to do the work necessary to protect people who are under threat.

So tell us: What do you wish white people would say to you — IRL, via text or chat, email, whatever — if you are currently trying to process the election?

And also, if your friends and loved ones have already said and done super thoughtful and meaningful things, tell us those, too.
