Here's What Body Dysmorphia Actually Is

It's not just another way of saying low self-esteem.

7. BDD seems to be caused by a combination of genetic predisposition and environmental factors.

9. Researchers think that people with BDD might actually see things differently.

10. BDD is usually treated with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).

11. In some cases, medication is also used.

12. The onset of BDD is usually around puberty.
