TL;DR Harambe was a gorilla at the Cincinnati Zoo who was shot dead in May this year, after a child crawled into his enclosure. Once footage of the incident went viral on YouTube, Harambe swiftly became one of 2016's most popular memes.

While Harambe the meme might almost be dead like Harambe himself, a bunch of Delhi students have now decided to hold a candlelight vigil in honour of the slain gorilla.

The event is being organised on October 15 by the University School of Law and Legal Studies, as part of an intra-campus parliamentary debate competition.

Since being announced less than a week ago, the vigil already has over 300 confirmed participants, with hundreds more expressing interest in attending.

Of course, the event also has an official hashtag – #WicksOutForHarambe.

So if you're in Delhi next weekend and wanna pay tribute to a true hero, you can find more details about the event here.
