These Guys Tried The Pregnancy Diet And Whined Like Hell

Because when there's a bun in the oven, you can't eat deli meat. (That's the saying, right?)

When people are pregnant, doctors recommend that they follow a strict diet for the health of the baby, both limiting potentially harmful foods and eating more foods that promote healthy growth. We asked some guys to try it out for two weeks.

Two weeks is 1/20th of a full-term pregnancy.

The four guys who participated all had different goals. Tyler and Elvis wanted to participate "to see how hard it is" and for "masochism," respectively.

    LOL, ok guys.

Kwesi wanted to improve his health overall, and Jared wanted to do the diet in solidarity with his pregnant fiancé.

    Aww.

They weren't allowed to eat a TON of foods, in order to prevent things like Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, Listeria, Salmonella, or dehydration.

They also had to add in a bunch of foods to their diet.

    Day One: ALREADY. STRUGGLING.

Kate had no sympathy at all when they were upset by Day Three.

By Day 6, the guys were making some pretty #basic excuses.

Since our guys were struggling, we brought in Dr. Suzanne Gilberg-Lenz, Ob-Gyn, to give them some advice.

Week two brought some more realizations...

...And a whole lot more peeing.

    But not much more progress.

So, how did those long two weeks go?

The guys admitted to struggling with a lot of aspects of the diet -- not being able to eat some of their go-to meals, missing caffeine, and struggling to eat all the extra nutrients. Jared did say, however, that he liked being in solidarity with Kate. <3

Overall, the guys had a healthy new respect for the pregnancy diet and, well, being a woman in general.

And Jared and Kate? Now they both know exactly how much work it's been for Kate to keep a happy and healthy diet for their baby.
