On Saturday, Reddit user u/Junglecukasked people who've worked in porn, "What are some unknown facts about the porn industry?" They came through with some super interesting information about an at-times elusive industry.
Here's what they said:
."Used to work in porn sales. All the major porn sites — PornHub, Brazzers, Reality Kings, and many many more — are all owned by one company called MindGeek. It's based in Montreal, Canada."
."There's a website where you can look up when and causes of how pornstars die — a truly shocking amount of suicides and overdoses, but far more murders than I would have thought."
."It's boring to film. Penetration angles are often painful. It's slow. For every minute on film, there are five minutes of lighting, camera adjustments, and discussion. There are often lots of people in the room."
."The Japanese porn industry is heavily dominated by women, and they struggle to find male actors. It’s something like 70 males for every 10,000 females. This is also why you see the same male actors over and over again, even though the girl is always different."
."A lot of the time, when you see women getting face-fucked or doing deep throat, they use a medicine designed to reduce coughing by numbing the throat."
."Career performers have lists of other actors they refuse to work with. On these lists, they have to give a reason why. Most are one of the following: STIs, ejaculates too quickly, makes scene unnecessarily racist, too aggressive, attempted anal when scene didn't call for it, regularly drunk or high."
."Performers make additional pay by going on tours across the country and dancing at reputable gentlemen's clubs. I met Lisa Ann, Jenna Haze, and Teagan Presley this way."
."If the male actor can't produce the 'cum shot' at the end, he often doesn't get paid for the day's shoot. They'll bring in another dude for like 50 bucks to film the last shot."
