TikToker Dixie D'Amelio did Vogue's "24 Hours With" series, where she basically documented what she does in a day.
Eventually, Dixie brought up the the topic of college.
"I fully got into college [in] August of 2019, and I decided not to go just because traveling back and forth was going to be a lot," she said.
"I was also really scared because I saw someone make a TikTok, saying that they would play my songs at a frat party. That's really what like turned me away from going to school because I don't think I could handle that level of embarrassment,” she said.
Obviously, college is super expensive and such a privilege in this country. So many people struggle to find the financial means to attend, and so many also struggle with the financial burden of paying off loans afterward.
So, of course, her comments about just not wanting to go to college because a frat might play her song were not met with praise.
After watching the video — which now has over 31,000 dislikes on YouTube — a lot of people were just like, "WOW."
People said the comments were out of touch, embarrassing, and entitled.
And people also had one basic question: "Who would play a Dixie song at a frat party?????"
Yup, I can't. I just can't. Dixie has not responded to the backlash, but we will update you if she does.
