People Are Sharing The Characters You Don't Realize Are The "Actual Villains" In TV Shows And Movies, And It's So True
Featuring some of your faves...sorry!
Ever look back on a movie or show and realize the character everyone loved — or was supposed to love — was actually the one who was problematic AF? Well, a little while back, we took a look at a popular Twitter meme format where people shared which characters they believe were the actual villains of the stories, and their hilarious claims sparked even more great responses from our very own BuzzFeed Community!
Here's what they shared:
WARNING!!! SPOILERS!!!!
1. Actual villains of The Office: Pam, Angela

"Pam is the worst for me. The more I rewatch the show, the more I resent her and believe that she holds Jim back. Yes, he also did bad things, like buy a house without checking with her first (although, they weren’t even married yet, and it was his money). They bonded over their mutual hatred for their jobs and the office, but then she held him from doing something he was finally passionate about. Only until everyone else moved on from the show/the office did she finally decide to let him fully embrace his new job.
And Angela — she's rude, demeaning, racist, homophobic, fatphobic, a cheater (multiple times), and denied Dwight the right to his son until he fell in love with her. Literally besides being a cat lover, I can't think of any redeeming qualities."
2. Actual villain of Thor: Odin

"Loki isn't the villain. Odin is. He treated Loki as second best to Thor, his biological son. Just because he isn't your biological son doesn't mean you should love any less. Like what the fuck, Odin?
3. Actual villain of Desperate Housewives: Susan

"Susan was the worst. She caused problems for everyone around her. She was just generally pathetic, and it was totally her fault Mike died."
4. Actual villain of How I Met Your Mother: Lily

"People always say Barney from How I Met Your Mother is the villain — but I think Lily was the actual villain. (However, I still love them both.)”
5. Actual villain of High School Musical: Sharpay

"Sharpay was the villain. She told Gabby and Troy 'We will try to find small parts for you,' as if they didn’t have a chance. She tried to sabotage the callback. She tried to steal Troy away. So, yeah."
6. Actual villain of Glee: Mr. Schue

"People think the villain is Sue. The real villain is Mr. Schue. Like, seriously! I recently rewatched Glee as an adult, and I am shocked at the things he got away with."
7. Actual villain of Mean Girls: BOTH Janis and Regina

"Regina and Janis were both 100% in the wrong. People need to understand that there’s not always a clean 'one side bad/one side good' aspect of conflict. Sometimes both are bad, and you have to recognize that you need to create your own side to right both of them."
8. Actual villain of Breaking Bad: The American Healthcare System
"The actual villain of Breaking Bad is American healthcare. In any civilized country, the show lasts for 10 seconds while the doctor tells him, 'You have lung cancer, and this is how we're going to treat it.' You don't have to pay anything."
9. Actual villain of Voltron: Legendary Defender: Hubris

"So, this one’s obvious, but in Voltron: LD, Zarkon is seen as the villain. Only when we get to see his backstory with Haggar do we see what happened to the both of them. The real villain is hubris and how it leads to the susceptibility to outside manipulation. We also see this with their son, Lotor."
10. Actual villain of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory: Grandpa Joe

"I think it’s pretty much accepted by now that Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory wants you to believe that Slugworth and the other kids and their parents are the villains, when we all know it’s Grandpa Joe."
11. Actual villain of No Good Nick: Tony

"Tony Franzelli is the reason Nick got into the terrible situation she was in. There was no main antagonist, but if he hadn't borrowed money from the literal mafia and robbed a convenience store, none of the show's events would have happened."
12. Actual villain of Jennifer's Body: Needy

"In Jennifer’s Body, the band are the villains. They chose to do what they did for fame. Even in the movie, as Needy is telling her classmates the band didn’t help in the fire, nobody listened to her. That was one of the benefits of the sacrifice they made — that the demon in Jennifer played on the insecurities in others, but also hers too. There’s a scene in the movie where she weaker from not eating and she’s looking at herself in the mirror, and she hates what she sees. She spreads makeup all over her face to cover what she doesn’t want to see. It’s one of the few times there’s a raw moment, where you see who she really is. It’s clear that everybody around her gave her what she wanted because she was pretty and popular, not because they cared. In the end, she was jealous of Needy because Needy at least had someone who actually cared about her."
13. Actual villain of Gilmore Girls: Lorelai
"Everyone thinks the villain of Gilmore Girls is Emily, but the real one is Lorelai. I'm salty AF after watching those Gilmore Girls episodes when Rory is trying to choose a college. YOU ONLY EXPECTED HER TO APPLY TO HARVARD?!"
14. Actual villain of Devil Wears Prada: Andy's boyfriend and her friends
"Andy's friends and boyfriend are absolutely the villains. Every time I watch The Devil Wears Prada I cringe during the scene where they take her phone while it's ringing and then judge her for getting mad. The worst friends ever!"
15. And finally — actual villain of The Princess Diaries: Lily

"Lily was the villain! I mean, DUDE, what a self-centered, hypocritical piece of human garbage."
So, what do YOU think? Are these the actual villains? Do you have movies/shows, where you disagree about who people consider the "villain"? Let me know in the comments below!
