The only explanation why Harry would risk becoming an Auror is that he probably figured only He, Ron, Hermoine, knew about the elder wand and chain of possession, and by sealing it away would remove it from the world. Think about it, even if he lost a fight, that first person would have to be aware of a ton of lore to even know of the wands existence, let alone future generations of transference (see: Draco).
