Does your child have a passion for business? Do you also want to teach him or her practical ways to make money? Here's a list of three ways kids can raise money.
Three Ways Kids Can Raise Money
1. Sell hand-made jewelry. If your child has a passion for fashion and an eye for jewelry, you can encourage him or her to make hand-made jewelry. Take your child to your local arts and crafts store and help him or her pick out some attractive beads and string.
Whether they're artistic or not, they can learn how to make earrings, bracelets, and necklaces in a matter of days. After they make the jewelry, have them work on their business pitch. Take them around the neighborhood and have them ring the doorbell and make the pitch as you watch.
Their confidence will shoot up after they make a few bucks. Some people may not answer the door, some may not buy any jewelry, others may give nice sums of cash, and some will buy. What matters is you are teaching him or her ways kids can raise money by taking action!
2. Selling beverages. This is definitely one of the three ways kids can raise money, and it's a classic! This will sell very well in the summertime. It's hot. People want a refreshing water, lemonade, or Gatorade. Why not sell what they need for a dollar or two a pop?
You could either help your child set up a stand in your neighborhood or go downtown. Of course, you'd need a business license to go to a city with, but the traffic is higher as well as the profits. You could go to the city and help your child sell water on the corner without one, but the police would probably question you at some point.
Either way, it's very possible to make some money! Go to your local grocery store or Sam's Club and buy some water for a few bucks. Put them in a freezer overnight so they can stay really cold the next day, and place them in a cooler in the morning. Go out to the city or even a busy freeway exit and sell! You'll make money in no time!
3. Sell items online or through a garage sale. If your child has a bunch of toys they don't need, they can easily sell them in a garage sale or go to eBay, Amazon, or Craigslist to sell them.
They can also do the "buy low, sell high" tactic. He or she can go to discount stores and buy inexpensive items and sell them through a weekly garage sale or online.
It's fun, easy, and allows them to interact with others! Eventually, your child will make a customer base that is unbeatable.
