Hatchery

The southern coast of Sri Lanka has seemingly erupted with a number of turtle hatcheries. Some have captured and exploited these beautiful marine creatures while others such as the Kosgoda Turtle Conservation Project do their best to save and protect turtles and their eggs. If you’re staying at a villa in Sri Lanka along the golden coast, such as Pebbles Beach Villa, check on which hatcheries are genuine before visiting!

Injured turtles

Turtle conservatories also nurse injured turtles back to health. In a rescue and save operation, turtles that have been injured by ships, boats, debris and other factors are kept in large tanks and looked after until they are strong enough to swim back to the big blue.
