Ewan McGregor has tweeted he won't be appearing on ITV's Good Morning Britain because of Piers Morgan's comments about the Women's March last weekend.
Was going on Good Morning Britain, didn't realise @piersmorgan was host. Won't go on with him after his comments about #WomensMarch
Over the weekend, Morgan suggested holding a "Men's March", after describing the Women's March in Washington as a "Trump-hating feminazi farce".
I'm planning a 'Men's March' to protest at the creeping global emasculation of my gender by rabid feminists. Who's with me?
As of Tuesday morning, Morgan had already tweeted a response to McGregor and was retweeting his supporters.
Sorry to hear that @mcgregor_ewan - you should be big enough to allow people different political opinions. You're just an actor after all.
And then said he was writing a column about it.
I'll be writing a column about @mcgregor_ewan today, once I have sent it to him for his approval.
Morgan's co-host, Susanna Reid, also tweeted about McGregor's decision.
Such a shame. Challenge views where there's difference. Would have liked to see that debate on air - it's an import… https://t.co/8EBKae3hn7
Reid had criticised Morgan over the weekend after his suggestion of a Men's March. She tweeted: "You know you sit next to a feminist every morning, right?"
McGregor's supporters rallied about his decision.
@StinsonHunter @piersmorgan @mcgregor_ewan imagine having values, beliefs and morals—and sticking to them.
If more people had @mcgregor_ewan 's integrity and refused to be interviewed by @piersmorgan how long do we think he'd keep his job?
If you're going to criticise Ewan McGregor as 'just' an actor (he isn't) then Piers Morgan's just a guy on a sofa stirring arguments.
This 'just an actor's @mcgregor_ewan toenail has more character than your opinions will ever have @piersmorgan https://t.co/kaJ0AERx21
Choose a life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose to tell Piers Morgan to go fck himself #ewanmcgregor
FACT: Obi-Wan is better than Piers Morgan 👍
