Two of the more unusual measures in the 2015 budget are levies on bananas and honey.
The "Banana Levy" has been increased "at the request of the Australian Banana Growers' Council to facilitate repayment of the banana industry's liability associated with an emergency response to eradicate banana freckle," budget documents say.
The levy is 75 cents per kilogram, but wait, there's more.
There’s also a tax on honey.
The Honey Tax was raised "at the request of the Australian Honey Bee Industry Council to provide for the industry's ongoing biosecurity obligations and priorities."
In total the levy will be 3.7 cents per kilogram of honey sold.
Sorry to harsh your budget night buzz.
