Earlier this year, messaging app WhatsApp introduced the ability to write messages in bold, italics, or with a strikethrough.
And though many people have worked this out for themselves...
...to others it's still something of a revelation.
In recent weeks I've accidentally blown the minds of a number friends who weren't aware of the changes.
So in the interest of public service, here I am, finally telling you – the world – about the brand new, slightly italicised, dawn that lies ahead.
In case you haven't worked it out yet, doing *this* to a word makes it bold, _this_ makes it italic, and ~this~ gives it a strikethrough.
Unfortunately the changes caused some unforeseen and heartbreaking side effects. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
If you already knew all this, you're allowed to be smug right now, and you've probably spent the last few months lording your new-found powers over your friends.
As you watch them try and fail to join in.
However there are clearly many out there who didn't get the message. So to those who are new to the club, y̶o̶u̶ ̶t̶o̶o̶k̶ ̶y̶o̶u̶r̶ ̶t̶i̶m̶e̶ welcome.
It opens you up to a whole new world.
Where the once impossible has now become possible.
And the once creepy has now become really fucking creepy.
So go forth and spread the word. Just hope the person you're telling doesn't already know.
Of course. I thought everyone did?NO! And I'll be writing exclusively in italics for the foreseeable future.
Oops. Something went wrong. Please try again later
Looks like we are having a problem on the server.
Did you know how to do this?
