On Thursday The Sun published a topless model on page 3.
The newspaper declared: "Further to recent reports in all other media outlets, we would like to clarify that on Page 3 of today's Sun is a picture of Nicole, 22, from Bournemouth.
"We would like to apologise on behalf of the print and broadcast journalists who have spent the last two days talking and writing about us."
Original story below.
It has been reported that The Sun will no longer feature topless models on Page 3 of the newspaper following a lengthy campaign calling for the feature to be scrapped.
The Times had a story today claiming Friday's Page 3 may have been the last.
However, The Sun has yet to comment on the speculation. This is what the paper's head of PR had to say on Tuesday morning.
This was the third page in the first edition of today's Sun.
However, it was changed to cover the death of Coronation Street actress Anne Kirkbride in a second edition.
It has not been unusual for the paper to drop the Page 3 feature when there is a large news story.
And Page 3 still exists online, where Lucy from Warwick is posing topless today.
Despite the lack of official confirmation, supporters of No More Page 3 are claiming victory today, and people are offering their congratulations.
Some people, however, said reports that topless models would be replaced with celebrities posing in underwear meant it was not as great a victory as was being claimed.
Others were disappointed to hear rumours of the feature's decline.
And some just made jokes.
