    Eyewitness Describes Fatal London Bus Crash As “Like An Explosion”

    Motorists have been advised to avoid the area.

    A man has died following a collision between a double-decker bus and a car in Clapton, east London.

    Metropolitan Police said officers were called at around 2:20am on Wednesday morning to reports of an accident in Lea Bridge Road, at the junction with Essex Wharf.

    Rose Friggi, 32, from Paradise Park, is quoted by Sky News as saying: "I heard what sounded like an explosion.

    “My husband went to work at about 3am and he said there were police cars and a helicopter at the scene."

    Four men were travelling in the car when it collided with the N38 night bus as it made its way towards Whipps Cross.

    One of the men was pronounced dead at the scene by ambulance staff.

    Another was taken to an east London hospital, where his condition is described as critical.

    The other two men, who were in the back of the vehicle, are in a serious but stable condition and are being treated in hospital.

    Around 10 people who were travelling on the bus were also treated by ambulance staff.

    Police said there have been no arrests following the accident.
