Qur'an Or Bible? Most People Can't Tell The Difference... Can You?

These verses are from Surat Maryam, the chapter of the Qur'an that details the birth of Prophet Jesus and the reverence of his mother, Mary. While some details vary between the Qur'anic and Biblical versions of Jesus's birth, both traditions consider Jesus to be a messenger of God.

This verse, Matthew 6:2, encourages believers to provide charity to the poor and discourages boastful behavior. In Islam, believers are required to give alms and Islamic Scripture similarly forbids narcissism.

This verse, Proverbs 23:20–21, warns against gluttonous behavior. The Qur'an similarly condemns drunkenness (5:90), and also forbids the consumption of pork (2:173).

Moses is a prophet in both the Bible and the Qur'an. In Islam, the Qur'an is considered the final, infallible installment of a longer tradition of Scripture that includes numerous Old Testament prophets and parables.

The Bible details numerous rules for marriage and divorce, such as this passage from 1 Corinthians Chapter 7. In Islam, these familial rules and regulations are included in Shariah, or Islamic jurisprudence.

This verse, 20:13, reaffirms the oneness of God, which is the central tenet of Islam. Muslims recognize the singularity of God in their profession of faith.

There are numerous Biblical references to prostration and prayer, including this verse from 1 Kings. Muslims have a complex prayer ritual which also involves prostration to God.

Both the Bible and the Qur'an contain vivid imagery of heaven, hell and Judgement Day. This verse, Revelation 21:7-8, serves as a warning against immoral behavior

Verse 7:54 of the Qur'an details the story of creation and God's complete power. Likewise, the Old Testament of the Bible describes how God created everything in six days and rested upon the seventh.

This verse, from Surat al-'Isra', demonstrates God's mercy and might. Similar to most denominations of Christianity, God is portrayed as forgiving for those who repent for their sins in Islam.
