People tend to react negatively when they find out you're single:
They immediately picture you at home like this
But really at home you do this:
So you try to reassure them
You say things like...
Then, brace yourself...
Here come the comments...
Anything said, comes out sounding like:
which might as well imply:
And inside you're thinking...
The comments can be deflating, because people act like singleness is something that needs to be fixed.
But it's not.
Then come unsolicited suggestions and advice...
Pretending you'll take the advice is more polite and easier than objecting.
It seems like everywhere you go you're smacked in the face with beng single
Even television suggests you need a special someone
Then, without asking, people start trying to set you up
Someone new comes into your social circle and everyone immediately jumps to conclusions:
This makes your social interactions unnecessarily awkward.
Even your friends start to hatch up plans
Sometimes they put you in awkward situations
so you threaten them that if they do anything...
Other people say things you would never want them to say
but all you can do is
So you silence all of the voices in your life that have something to say about relationships
because at the end of the day you like your life and you just want to wait and see where it takes you
