Is Hadoop Dead? What Is Next For Big Data?

Hadoop offers large storage for data and is an open source tool. It consists of Map Reduce, Yarn, Hadoop common, and distributed file system. It comes with several benefits like tremendous power, immense tolerance, good flexibility, and low cost. Big data is the volume, variety, and velocity of the data. Hadoop can handle information and data that is stored on a single server or several servers. When data is required, they can be taken out as and when needed.

Is Hadoop still relevant and used in today’s world?

Yes, Big Data Hadoop is very much relevant and in use today. It is acceptable that Hadoop has benefited millions of users and several organizations.

Of late, that trend is changing rapidly. If you are an ardent fan of Hadoop, then you might not want to hear this. Users want to implement solutions that come with several benefits and fewer problems. The code for sharding in some cases had to be written by the individuals themselves.

The effort that it makes you put in to find solutions are cringe-worthy. This is something the designers will have to think about if they want it to make a comeback. However, it is still being used indirectly through other tools like Spark and Impala.

The initial popularity has waned, and it will take a considerable effort for it to make a good comeback like before. It is safe to say that Hadoop is relevant and very much used in today’s world. However, it cannot be termed as a solution for all problems.

As of now, it looks like it can get the job done decently. Until we find a better solution, it is the best option we have to complete tasks.

Primary Reasons for the Fall of Hadoop’s Popularity!

Hadoop was known as the revolution in big data, earlier on and continues to be so. Unfortunately, it is dying a slow death. What is the reason for that? The answer is quite simple. Big data, which was extremely popular once, is no longer the same.

You need to be reminded that it was Hadoop that was part of the significant data growth. During the initial days in 2007, big data was taken to new heights due to Hadoop. Firms and businesses were able to get to new levels along with their data, without an increase in the costs.

Of course, there were minor issues with the security part and speeds. Since it was a minor issue, things were easily taken care of. Though the speeds remain slow and can be a pain for firms, it was not the cause for Hadoop dying a slow death.

A possible cause would be the popularity of cloud computing. Nobody expected cloud computing to become very popular and useful. It comes with several benefits, reasonable costs, and extremes in safety.

Probably that is the main reason for the cloud becoming very popular among large and small organizations. However, their services were very much similar to what Hadoop was providing. The only difference being, there was efficient and came with fewer problems.

The need to break your head over security issues, maintenance, and usage were never there. The processing speed was quite slow too making customers unhappy about it. The misconception about Hadoop among several users is that it is soon going to be obsolete.

However, the matter of fact is that Hadoop is used to produce several products like Spark and Impala, which are currently being used and are very popular. Users will want to know that they cannot miss Hadoop.

It is not fair to say that Hadoop is falling in popularity because it is still in use. Just last year, they released the Hadoop 3.0. Several users instantly pointed out that it came with better Yarn, the shell script was stronger, and the fault tolerance was better than others.

Many users still prefer using it. In some cases, they like to use Spark. Spark as you know belongs to Hadoop. Therefore, as you can see, it is very much here to stay and is in great usage worldwide. Its popularity has not waned.

Big Data Trends you should know!

Big data seems to have made its mark on small and large organizations. The dependency on it has generated immense interest. The reason could be that it enables firms to have sensitive information that helps them efficiently perform their tasks.

Earlier, big data was almost like an uninvited guest. Its presence was hardly felt, and nobody bothered about using it. The reason for that being, it was too expensive. Small firms could not just afford it.

Thanks to cloud technology which, degraded Hadoop, has propelled big data to the skies. The need for small firms to have expensive setups and pay high salaries to experts is no longer there.

The data can be accessed through the Internet. Not to mention, you now have IoT or Internet of Things and AI (Artificial Intelligence), which provides ample solutions for big data. These can be used for the benefit of the firm. Some of the latest trends in big data are given below:

Fast growing IoT networks: With the advent of IoT, today you can control devices and appliances from anywhere. With a press of a button, washing machines or gadgets and start or stop running.

AI or artificial intelligence has become accessible: Unlike a few years ago, AI was not touchable by small or macro firms. Today, they can be easily accessed to help in the development of the business. The tasks can be quickly executed to enable it to operate efficiently and quicker.

Data analytics has risen: Being able to predict certain things gives any business or firm a massive advantage over others. With the help of big data, that is very much a possibility today. The analytics tools can be used for understanding the patterns shortly.

Hadoop is indeed not dead. We can still find its usage in one way or the other. On the other hand, big data has made massive gains with the help of cloud technology, IoT, and AI. The trend is due to continue at least for now until they are beneficial for firms.
