Two math majors at Oregon's Reed College lost control of a giant snowball they built last week, sending it crashing into a dorm building, CBS News reports.

The snowball was estimated to weigh at least 800 lbs., according to college spokesman Kevin Myers, and was built during a rare snowstorm in Portland, Ore. that brought a foot of snow.

According to Reed Magazine, after the snowball was created "a crowd had gathered in the Quad and was chanting 'Roll it! Roll it!'"

The students have not been punished for the damage, which a maintenance manager told Reed Magazine will cost $2,000 to $3,000 to repair.

“It was a big snowball,” says maintenance manager Steve Yeadon.
