15 Women Tried LuLaRoe's Leggings So You Don't Have To

Wondering how they'll fit your body (and if they are as soft as everyone says they are)? We got you!

After going down the LuLaRoe rabbit hole and trying their infamous leggings for myself, I wanted to see what other people with different body types thought of them.

The leggings, which cost $25 (plus tax and shipping), come in two versions of "one size fits all": One-Size (aka OS), which supposedly fits sizes 2-10, and Tall & Curvy (or T&C), which is for sizes 12-22. I loved how soft they are (and think they definitely live up to their reputation as "buttery"), and they fit my body really well — but at 5'3" and a size 6, I know that's not terribly helpful information. So I asked 15 of my co-workers to try them on and share their thoughts!

Thoughts: They are SO soft! It feels like exactly like when you shave your legs and you feel like a dolphin in the sheets. Other leggings I own have cost less than this and I immediately noticed the higher quality. ALSO, I could put these on over my shoes without the tips of my shoes getting caught in legging jail, which is a plus in my book. They're pretty kosher while you're standing still, but I feel like as soon as you move it's Camel Toe City. TBH, I'd only wear these in black, but that's just personal preference.

Thoughts: I tried both, since I fall between sizes. The T&C solid pair was so soft and wonderful like a damn angel (though they were super long), but the patterned OS pair felt more flannel-esque? They also were kind of difficult to pull over my big old calves. I liked that the pattern was offset from leg to leg, but I don’t know if that’s an intentional detail or just carelessness. If they could make a size similar to tall and curvy but for short people, that would be ideal.

Thoughts: These bring truth to the saying “fits like a glove”— they are so comfy and snug. I feel supported and warm — things I wish I could get from a man, but I guess these leggings will do. I tried both the OS and the T&C, and they actually both fit; I wasn’t too surprised, because I can usually pull off a L from like H&M or Forever 21 if I need to. The OS were obviously more snug, but they didn’t feel too tight at all. The TC came down longer on my leg, but that probably has more to do with my height. I’d go with the T&C if I were to buy them, just because I feel like I could work out, etc., in those.

Thoughts: These are SOOOOOOO comfortable. Like, I want a sheet that feels like these leggings. They’re smooth and buttery, and they don’t have that squeezy, tight, suffocating feeling like other tights. I can freely move and breathe comfortably in them. I also like the thickness of the fabric; I would totally wear them alone as pants without a skirt or anything. What I REALLY love, though, is that they don’t make my legs look smaller than what they are. I’m always a little self-conscious when it comes to tights because I feel like the fabric is constricting and makes my legs look too skinny. These fit perfectly, though, and my legs look their normal size.

Thoughts: I tried on the tall and curvy size first because I’m 6 feet tall and I need some extra length! The leggings were definitely long enough for my legs but way too big in the upper thighs, crotch, and waist — like, gaping fabric everywhere. When I hoisted them up really high, they fit a little better, but then they were too short, which defeats the purpose of a “tall” size. The OS fit perfectly, but they were definitely too short, like 3 inches above the ankle — but they still looked better being short than the tall and curvy size, because they actually fit. And the leggings were super soft and comfy in general, so I can see myself wearing them all day long! But I didn’t like the colors or prints, so I’d probably only get them in black. I think they should come in both one-size (0-12) and curvy (12+), and then have tall versions in each to fit a range of tall body types.

Thoughts: OK, I don’t know what I was expecting when I touched these pants. But holy shit, these are actually crazy soft. Like “clouds all up and down ya legs” soft. Like "were these engineered at Hogwarts?" soft. I am team #leggingscountaspants, but I am very particular about the ones I buy. These check off several of my necessary boxes: good medium rise on my waist, no pulling in the ass/thigh region (which I am self-conscious about), and general forget-you’re-wearing-pants comfort. Both the pink and the pattern were somewhat outside my comfort zone — I don’t remember the last time I wore an outfit with such head-to-toe color. But the heathered pink was actually super nice — maybe it’s time to make pastel the new black. I did cuff them under a little to get an ankle-length look (and show off more of my glittery socks), and with my big bootie heels, I feel like my legs looked longer than usual. Thumbs up. Moral of the story: I think I may actually buy these in black.

Thoughts: Considering leggings are supposed to be tight and clingy, I was extremely skeptical about a “one size fits all” version. I was also a little worried about the only alternative size being called “tall and curvy,” because I’m short and curvy. But I tried on the OS pair first and was shocked that they fit me really well. (The sizing varied for the patterned leggings — the patterned OS pair I tried on were definitely smaller than the solid pair I tried.) I’d never really thought about the “softness” of leggings before, which makes me worry I’m not an elegant texture lady. These were softer than any leggings I’ve ever tried. They reminded me a little of flannel sheets, so they definitely give off a pajamas vibe. The softness is nice, but I feel like I’d only want to wear them in the winter.

Thoughts: Well, I own the black ones and I wear them pretty much every time I’m lounging in my apartment or running errands. I loooove black leggings, and it’s hard to find a pair that isn’t completely see-through, but these are delightfully opaque. I was worried when I bought them that the “one size” deal meant they’d be a foot too long, because that’s my issue with every pair of pants I’ve ever owned in my life, BUT these miraculously weren’t! They bunch a little bit at the bottom, but you can’t tell, because they’re black, and it’s not enough to be annoying. The important thing is that they’re the most comfortable thing I’ve ever put on my body, and I used to own a Snuggie.

Trying on a new pair made me realize that many wearings and a few washings have slightly changed their texture. The new ones were so much tighter and felt so fresh and nice, which is something the ones I own have lost. They’re still great, don’t get me wrong, but the feel has changed a bit. The black-and-white patterned pair were so freaking cute and a style I would definitely buy. I liked how they looked on for the most part, but I noticed that they made my thighs look wider than usual, which didn’t impress me much. Overall, I love these leggings, but realistically, I’ll probably only ever wear black ones, because that’s my jam.

Thoughts: These were shockingly soft. Like, they were so nice to put on and wear around. I don’t think I’ve ever worn something as soft as these leggings. They were a little long and crumpled up either below my butt (if I pulled them up) or at my ankles (if I pulled them down). The fabric was a little too thin around my butt, and I’m happy I chose a shirt that covered it to make me feel less self-conscious. Definitely not to be worn with a short T-shirt, which is how I usually wear my black Gap leggings. The patterned felt WAY smaller than the solid pair, but I really, really, really loved the pattern. They were equally as comfortable, but the band around the waist of the patterned ones gave a little more support. These looked cooler, so +1 to this pattern.

Thoughts: These leggings feel like if clothes could be made out of shea butter. How are basic-ass leggings so comforting? Why do I suddenly feel as if I will never have to moisturize again? I would definitely buy multiples of these in basic colors (black, heather gray, definitely), but the patterns leave a lot to be desired. I LOVE patterns, but these offerings were mostly in the teenage Delia's range — which is great for dance class, but not work or real life. The tall and curvy (the green) fits AMAZINGLY on me, and they’re thick enough that I’m not worried about underwear lines and high enough that I’m not worried about the waist rolling down. (The OS would DEFINITELY roll down at the waist on me if I moved at all.) Would definitely buy these, but I’m hoping that the pattern range graduates to things I can get away with wearing to work instead of just around the house or running errands!

Thoughts: The dark green T&C leggings felt a little too stretched out/big when I tried them on and walked around. The color is AMAZING and could double as a pant for any outfit combination I’d wear, but I felt like I was bringing them up too high above my belly button for me to feel comfortable/make sure they accentuated my bum. The light blue OS leggings fit perfectly, though there’s a little extra length at the bottom, which, coming from a tall girl, is surprising. The light blue was a little too revealing for me, but again — DAYUM. The material is hella soft and feels like I’m wearing next to nothing, which is a little different for me, a jeans or skirts kinda girl. This material is amazing, and if were trying to stay comfortable on the weekend but still look a little cute, I’d wear these (in my preferred black).

Regular clothing size: Yeesh, I never wear pants other than leggings, so I legitimately don’t know what size I’d be normally, but I have an, uh, sizable booty and thighs.

Tried: OS (green) and T&C (patterned)

Thoughts: The tall and curvy should be either tall or curvy, because not all of us are both! Both of the sizes I tried on were significantly too long for me, but it doesn’t bother me too much, since the buttery, delicious fabric was super alluring. As an avid leggings wearer, the things I’m most attuned to are the crotch, uh, markings, and whether or not the waist is gonna stay where it lays. I liked the patterned leggings for their ~camouflage~ on the crotch area, and felt a little exposed by the solid ones. I also enjoy a little bit of a thicker fabric on my jiggly bits/cellulite. Overall, I love the soft texture of the leggings but wished for a slightly thicker fabric on the solid ones, though I’d definitely wear any/all of these under a skirt or dress. Gimme!

Thoughts: I liked them! They’re so soft and buttery to the touch, and soooo comfortable. It kind of felt like wearing pajamas that are acceptable to wear in the real world. I do wish that they had a curvy line, though, and not just a tall and curvy. I am not tall, but I am very curvy, so I had to wear the tall and curvy ones to make sure all my ass got inside the leggings. The leggings bunched, and I had to decide where i wanted them to bunch — the ankle, the knee, the weird crotchular area. But that meant that I had enough fabric at the waist to decide how much of my tummy I wanted to show (which depends on my body positivity levels on any given day). Overall, I really liked them and would get some in different colors and prints!

Thoughts: These leggings are undeniably super soft and comfy. They’re also thick, so the material isn’t see-through when you bend down. My only complaint is that I wish I could wear them at my waist and not have them bunch at my ankles. If I don’t want the bunching, I have to hike them up to my underboob. TBH, I would never wear the patterned ones outside of the house (I felt like I was going on a playdate in the pastel triangle patterned ones), but they fit way better than the solids. They felt tighter and also gave less of a camel toe.

Thoughts: They were incredibly comfortable — like, never want to take them off comfortable. Sometimes I feel like the expensive workout leggings I usually buy can feel like a spandex body prison. I loved this material, especially because it felt so breathable. I really don’t enjoy struggling to peel off sticky-ass, sweaty leggings post-workout, and I feel like these would solve that problem. As someone who would describe her style aesthetic as “toddler determined to dress herself for kindergarten today,” I really loved the patterned ones. (I know Vicki said she felt like she was going on a playdate after trying them on, but I would still wear Gap Kids if I could, so just let me live in my truth.) I would definitely wear them to work out, and also just around town.

As a very short person, I am naturally wary of “one size fits all” clothing (as well as high shelves and standing-room-only concert tickets), but these actually fit great! My only complaint was that in order to get them to fit my little baby legs properly, I had to hike them pretty high up. Because of this, I had a somewhat visible camel toe in a few (but not all?!) pairs. But mild camel toes happen, and you can simply throw on a long shirt, disguise your visible vag outline, and carry on with your life in your extremely comfortable leggings.
