This Drugstore Moisturizer Is Better Than Highlighter

I've never been this excited about a face lotion in my life.

I’m Rachel, and I’m a dewy-skin fanatic. My drug of choice: Cetaphil Daily Facial Moisturizer.

I am actually in love with this moisturizer and will preach about it to anyone who will listen (read: very few people). Real talk, I rarely give a lotion a rave review. Unless you’re dropping a hundo on some miracle formula that’s full of retinol and baby’s blood, moisturizer is moisturizer. I’ve tried countless drugstore brands and the outcome is always the same. Meh.

Until: my beloved Cetaphil.

I bought this on a whim and haven’t looked back. Not sure if you’ve noticed (we can’t all be this blindingly pale), but It can be surprisingly difficult to find a good daytime face lotion with an SPF above 15. So when I spotted this lil' treasure at my local Walgreens, I decided to take her out for a summer spin.

Not only is it super hydrating, but I can’t get enough of how it looks on my face. After I wash my face and apply the stuff, my dry/combination skin is gloriously dewy and radiant. So now I'll be using it all year round, thank you. It also gets bonus points for being unscented and a friend to skin of the sensitive ilk. (Side note: My boyfriend uses this too — i.e., steals it from me when he’s over — and loves how moisturizing it is.)

And if you don't believe me (which, fine — you don't really know me, I get it), perhaps you'll be swayed by these Amazon reviews that are just as glowing as my Cetaphil-enhanced mug.

Promising review: "This is my all-time favorite! I've tried many others that cost a lot more, but I always come back to this one. I'm fair-skinned, but I don't burn with this one. It's also moisturizing enough for my combination/dry skin and provides a bit of a glow without leaving the white/chalky residue you can get from other types." —Queen Bee

Promising review: "I am very fair with red undertones. I actually still get burned with SPF 30. Until this product, all facial SPF products broke my skin out. It goes on fairly easily, and doesn't leave white streaks on my face or show under my makeup. Yea! I recommend it to anyone with sensitive, easily burned skin." —Scott Walnum

Promising review: "I love this sunscreen! I recently went to the dermatologist and she asked which of the (expensive) products sold at her office I was using. She was impressed with how good my skin looked. I'm not using one of the sunscreens sold at her office — just Cetaphil moisturizer. I have dry skin so maybe that's why this sunscreen works so well for me? I just know this is the best my skin has looked in a long time." —Esil

I could go on and on about its ideal consistency, but let me drop a lil' anecdote instead.

I went to get a facial this past July and, per protocol, the esthetician asked me to remove any makeup. I told her I was only wearing moisturizer and I’m 99% sure she thought I was lying. She skeptically scanned my face for a good 30 seconds and remarked that I was glowing, certain I had applied some type of highlighter. Nope, just this miracle in a bottle!
