23 Small Ways To Make Your Home Feel A Little More Like A Hotel

*Puts on robe, closes curtains, watches HGTV until 4 a.m.*

    1. Fill an infusion pitcher with a refreshing combination of produce to make what can only be called "fancy lobby water." So tasty. So refreshing.

    2. Sink into some hotel gel pillows to allow your head and neck to get some serious R and R. These pillows are also dust mite-, mold-, and mildew-resistant — a great quality at home and afar.

    3. Invest in some nice, fluffy towels that will make you feel so pampered every time you bathe. Such a great way to ~elevate~ what would be a very mundane daily task.

    4. And while you're at it, install a double-rod towel rack — yes, into your wall — because a crumpled up towel or one draped carelessly draped on the door handle simply won't do.

    5. Dine from a breakfast tray and pretend you just got room service. The human imagination is very powerful and can take you there if you just try hard enough.

    6. Keep a shower cap on hand for when you want to save your flawlessly blown-out hair for two...three...four...five days. I support you.

    7. Add a bit of intrigue to your bathroom counters or dresser top with some colorful geometric trays. Trendy boutique hotels hotels have nothing on your interior deco skills.

    8. Select a modern bedside lamp, because you don't have to wait to go on a trip to have a perfect reading light. Seriously, HOW do all hotels have the best reading light setups?

    9. Throw on a waffled robe and lounge around. Maybe go wild and watch House Hunters for four hours. Classic hotel TV.

    10. And ~slip~ into some open-toe slippers to complete your full spa and resort look.

    11. Actually hang up your hand towels on a cute towel ring instead of flopping them onto your counter to inevitably fall into the sink.

    12. Wrap yourself in a certified floofy white duvet cover — a true staple of basically every hotel in the world. No need to be afraid in having all white bedding when bleach is a thing!

    13. Decant your shower essentials into a handy dispenser, eliminating the need for clunky bottles. Sleek and functional is the name of the game.

    14. Keep your keys on an old school hotel keychain commemorating some of the greats. Tag yourself, I'm the Dragonfly Inn.

    15. Use a fabric shower curtain liner instead of a plastic one. They're SO much easier to clean, which is why they're used in hotels in the first place. Just pop it in the wash and blamo — no more mildew!

    16. Use only the tiniest of hand soaps. "Impractical," you say? Well, tiny soaps won't get as mushy as full-size ones over time, and you'll get to try far more scents! So ha!

    17. And place your teensy soap on a soap dish, a little touch that will make your bathroom feel a bit more clean and thoughtful.

    18. Indulge in a Nespresso, the ultimate sign that you are in a very nice hotel — or if you're me this summer — a sign that you're in a hotel you absolutely cannot afford. A Nespresso would have been much cheaper.

    19. Bravely purchase a magnifying mirror — both the best and worst part of using a hotel bathroom. But ultimately helpful enough to justify the close-ups on your nose hairs.

    20. Scatter little notepads about so you can jot anything down at a moment's notice. Some notes on the novel you'll be plunking out on a typewriter later, perhaps...?

    21. Keep a mini fridge stocked with beverages and treats wherever your heart desires. Bonus: cans of Coke you put in there won't cost you $7 whenever you want to drink them!

    22. Hang your specialty clothing items on sturdy wood hangers. You don't need to wait until you're at The Ritz to give your suits and dresses a little more dignity.

    23. Employ a robot vacuum, because you may not be able to afford actual housekeeping to tidy up after you every day, but an adorable helper like this is certainly the next best thing.

    Enjoy that ~suite life~, everyone!
