We asked members of the BuzzFeed Community to tell us which kitchen products and gadgets they've tried that have totally earned a place in their drawers...and their hearts. Here are the results:
1. A silicone "spoonula" — a spoon and spatula hybrid to help you scoop and stir to your heart's content without switching between tools.
2. An Instant Pot for anyone who thinks that slow cooking is, well, too slow. In case you haven't heard, people love this six-in-one appliance for its versatility and speed, and those who stan REALLY stan.
3. A pair of chiffonade scissors to make quick work of finely chopping herbs. Salsa done in a flash! Bruschetta fixed at a moment's notice!
4. A citrus juicer so you can easily squeeze lemons, limes, and oranges to get the most juice possible and without getting your hands all sticky.
5. Silicone baking mats to ensure your bakes don't stick to the cookie sheet. I recommend Silpat brand mats. They're sturdy, easy to clean, and are super nonstick. This version even has uniform circles so you can get perfectly uniform cookies or macarons.
6. A grape slicer for any parents out there who can't bear the thought of cutting one. more. grape. This gadget will be your BFF when your kiddo needs a healthy snack and fast.
7. A set of ceramic knives and a ceramic peeler that are light, sharp, and will be like an extension of your hand as you chop, chop, chop.
8. A set of sturdy stainless-steel nesting bowls for any mixing, marinating, tossing, and storing task you can dream of. And because they nest, they'll be simple as can be to store.
9. A Joule sous-vide cooker so you can get your steak, chicken, and pork to the *perfect* temperature while keeping it as juicy as possible.
10. A rice cooker — if you've never used one, you don't know what you're missing. Sure you can make rice pretty easily in a pot, but being able to just pour in your rice and water, walk away, and come back to perfect rice is so sweet.
11. A collapsible silicone popcorn maker for anyone who wouldn't dare think of having fresh popcorn less than once a week. Bonus — the popper doubles as a bowl!
12. A garlic press, because mincing garlic is a real chore. Your hands get to be sticky and stinky and after all that effort the garlic isn't even as small as you want it to be. This might be controversial, but I'm firmly on team garlic press.
13. A copy of Mastering The Art of French Cooking, which, as the owner of this book and number one fan of the movie Julie and Julia, I can't help but recommend everyone have a copy of in their cupboards.
14. A microplane for zesting citrus, shaving cheese, and grating fresh spices like nutmeg and cinnamon. There really is no replacement for a nice, sharp microplane — the secret weapon when it comes to adding pops of flavor.
15. Nice sheet trays — I recommend the large, half-sheet size — that you will basically use every day. If you refuse to spend all day baking only to find your cookie bottoms burned to a crisp, it's time for a new pan. And get ready for the simple joy of fitting SO MUCH onto pans that are bigger than you're used to.
16. A pair of Cutco kitchen sheers with wildly strong blades that are up to any task, including cutting through shellfish and even disjointing chicken. They're a splurge but have a lifetime guarantee.
17. An herb stripper for speedily getting those delicious leaves off of cilantro, rosemary, and even kale!
18. A Ninja Foodi 5-in-1 cooker that bakes, roasts, air fries, grills, and dehydrates — what more could you ask for? A go-to for searing and crisping right on your countertop.
19. A toucan can opener — or a tou*can* opener, if you will — to swiftly and reliably open your canned goods and make you smile while doing so.
