    1. A tube Black Girl Sunscreen so you can protect your gorgeous melanated skin without your sunscreen causing a white cast and ruining your glow.

buzzfeed editor holding a tube of black girl sunscreen
    Marquaysa Battle / BuzzFeed

Black Girl Sunscreen is a Black woman-owned brand. The sunscreen is SPF 30 and is paraben-free, fragrance-free, vegan, and cruelty-free.

"Babyyy! This was the best beauty find of 2020 for me. The first body sunscreen I've found that does NOT leave me looking ashy. Wearing sunscreen regularly (yup, even in the fall) is one of my new self-care methods and I feel good putting this on knowing it a) doesn't look ghostly on me and b) was made by Black women just like me." —Marquaysa Battle

Get it from Target for $15.99.

    2. A pair of frayed Teva Midform Sandals, which seem to be the general public's Sandal of the Summer™️. All those feet can't be wrong — Teva's are known for their light weight, awesome support, and ability adjust to the exact shape of your foot. Sounds good to me!

    Melanie Aman / BuzzFeed

"After thousands of steps in muggy New York City, it's not uncommon for my feet to swell — so I'm thankful the hook and loop closures across the toes and the ankle are very accommodating, adjustable, and secure if my feet need more breathing room. The straps never rub or irritate the tops of my feet or my ankles, which is more than I can say for some other sandals that are A-OK for a few street blocks and then promptly slice into my heels and leave me bloody. IYKYK! They're also made of a quick-dry webbing, which makes them a stylish and viable option for more rugged, outdoorsy activities. I haven't tested them in the rain, while walking across a river, or at the beach, but my feet can get pretty sweaty 😬 and I was never worried about slipping and sliding on the footbed." —Melanie Aman

Get them from Teva for $65 or Amazon for $64.95 (available in sizes 5–11 and three colors).

    Rachel Dunkel / BuzzFeed

    Bow Brow is cruelty-free!

I truly did not think it was possible for Boy Brow to be as great as the whole world claimed. But *sigh* everyone was correct! In an instant it makes my frazzled brows look defined-yet-natural. Many days it's the only bit of makeup I put on, and I think I'm gonna keep it way for a while. It stays on all day, even when I'm super sweaty, and is easy to take off at night. I'll be a lifelong purchaser for sure (until it's trendy to have pencil-thin brows again, though I pray that day never comes).

Get it from Glossier for $16 (available in four shades and clear).

    4. A birthdate candle whose scent and ~vibe~ will be in alignment with your astrological signs. Groovy!

buzzfeeder's candle in a jar that says "september twenty-eighth, the day of the fluttering candle" with small astrological sign details for that date

"I am a candle FIEND! And I love astrology! This candle is just the best of both worlds. The label and fragrance are customized based on your birth date to match your "inner spirit." The company provides descriptions of your personality, your emblematic tarot card, ruling planet, and ruling number. Such a fun astrological reading in the cutest packaging! I honestly felt like I was getting read to filth but I loved how detailed it was. This candles burns so smoothly, too, and my particular scent of hydrangea, peony, and jasmine is just so me. I love the delicate floral scent as it's strong without being overbearing." —Skyler Murry

Get it from Birthdate Co. for $38.

    5. A CeraVe night cream that'll deliver tons of moisture without leaving you feeling greasy by morning. Waking up to soft, supple skin every day? Heavenly.

buzzfeed editor holding a jar of cream captioned "mega moisture without ever feeling greasy, even on combo skin, and it got me through an allergic reaction"
    Maitland Quitmeyer / BuzzFeed

"Along with everyone else who watches TikTok, I got very into CeraVe products this year — and I loved this night cream as soon as I started using it. It's plumping, softening, and hydrating — without any greasiness or overpowering fragrances. But it wasn't until I had an allergic reaction to a *different* cream that I truly understood how great this (budget-friendly!) one is — it brought my skin back to normal in just a week." —Maitland Quitmeyer

Get it from Target for $13.99.

    6. A water bottle with (pretty) silicone bands to help you track your water intake throughout the day. Let me be the one millionth person this week to remind you that hydration is key!

buzzfeed editor's clear water bottlr with rainbow colored bands and a teal straw
    Sam Wieder / BuzzFeed

"I got this water bottle over the summer to keep track of my daily water intake and it’s still my favorite water bottle I’ve ever purchased. The rubber bands make it feel less like tracking my water intake, and more like playing a game. I also LOVE a water bottle with a straw, because it somehow feels less tedious than sipping it directly from a glass. So overall, this gets a million/10 ranking." —Sam Wieder

"Giant scrunchies are the accessory I never knew I needed. I have big, curly Type 3 hair and I'm constantly putting it up and taking it down throughout the day. These adorable scrunchies make throwing my hair up in a messy bun so much more fun. The satin ones are especially great for being gentle on your hair. In addition to the most beautiful scrunchies I've ever seen, they also sell curated vintage finds, jewelry, and more." —Kayla Boyd

    8. A Theragun Mini to help release tension from your tired muscles and give you a tough-yet-oh-so-good massage.

    @therabody / Via,

"Exercising has been a huge boost to my mental health during quarantine, but the DOMS man — the DOMS hurt like hell!! I'm talking hurts to walk, hurts to lower myself and sit, hurts to stand up, hurts to lift things heavier than a stuffed animal, hurts to exist. I learned early on that this little gadget was suuuuuuuuper helpful in reducing my discomfort and loosening my tight, angry muscles. While jackhammering my calves and thighs is not an incredibly fun experience (TBH it hurts especially when I'm massaging already sore muscles) but I know the next day I'll wake up with significantly less pain." —Melanie Aman

Get it from Amazon for $194+ (available in three colors).

    9. A powerful stain remover so you can drink black coffee from a lidless mug in your car going down a bumpy dirt road and it's no problem.

"It works on both old and new stains (including red wine!), and on any color-safe fabric that you can safely wet with water (read: not dyed silk or wool, probs, or anything that says "dry clean only"). I recently used this on a mystery stain in the lining of an old purse and worked like a charm! I did end up spraying, agitating, then letting it dry twice before I got the whole stain out, but that had more to do with the various folds in this purse lining than the product, I think. The key is to use enough of the product, then to gently agitate it with your fingers — then stains really do vanish in front of your eyes." —Natalie Brown

Get a bottle on Amazon for $11.92.

    10. A pair of Adidas Cloudfoam sneakers to treat your feet to some serious comfort day in and day out. A classic Adidas look with with a lil' more support than your old pair of Superstars.

Sorry not sorry to all of my other shoes that I am about to ditch, because I will be wearing these 24/7!!! They truly feel like walking on clouds and they’re so cute! "This pack is from Black-owned, San Francisco-based bean brand A Dozen Cousins and comes with black beans, pinto beans, chickpea curry, red beans, refried black beans, and refried pinto beans. They're all vegan and made with avocado oil. I personally swear by their black beans, which I have just recently become completely obsessed with. "I'm so obsessed with this exfoliator that I'm just choosing to forget all the years I lived without it. First of all, it suds up my body wash like nobody's business — I probably have to use about a quarter as much of it now to get really sudsy good coverage. It's flexible and extendable, which makes it ridiculously easy to reach places all over my body, in particular my shoulders and back. You can bunch it up to your preferred thickness if you want more of a light exfoliation or a deeper one in different places of your body. As someone who has had bumpy and rough skin on my arms, I noticed a MASSIVE difference in the smoothness of my skin from the very first use. Get it from Luv Scrub for $18 and shop all of their colors here.

    L.L. Bean

"My apartment is the icebox where Omarion's heart used to be. So, I bought this mammoth of a robe to survive the ice age. It's long, hooded, and incredibly plush. Sometimes, I use it as a blanket. The second I put it on, my roommate bought one. I feel like I'm at a resort when I wear it. They sell out pretty fast because L.L. Bean doesn't play when it comes to quality. This robe is no exception. I can't wait until it gets cold again so I can wear this around the house and feel like a winter princess." —Christine Forbes

Get it from L.L. Bean for $99 (available in sizes XS–3X, as well as petite sizes, and seven colors).

    Christine Forbes / BuzzFeed

Heat Free Hair is a Black woman-owned small business that makes hair extensions and wigs for Afro-textured hair. They sell lace fronts, wefted hair, full lace wigs, and clip-ins in a variety of textures. The set come with six clip-ins.

"I have been eyeing Heat Free Hair for 10 YEARS because they are pricey. Now that I've gotten my hands on some clip-ins, I regret waiting so long because they're totally worth it. For context, I have 4b–4c hair. I'm not used to being able to use hair fresh out the box. However, this blends perfectly with my natural hair. Mind you, I installed these in like 20 minutes with minimal stretching. All I did was lightly detangle the hair and put it in where my hair was less dense. It's soft and doesn't have that weird 'new hair' smell or waxy residue. You can tell that these were created by and for Black women. If you're a naturalista looking for an extra full Afro or a ponytail, try these — you won't regret it." —Christine Forbes

Get it from Heat Free Hair for $189+ (available in three lengths, as well as "For Kurls" and "For Koils")

    16. A bottle of One Hit Wonder from Mane Club so you can skip your lengthy hair regimen and instead just spritz and dry. Looking to blow-dry? This also provides heat protection!

    Elizabeth Lilly / BuzzFeed

One Hit Wonder is cruelty-free, as well as sulfate-, paraben-, and phthalate-free.

"I have a very thick head of naturally curly hair and have put it through just about everything, including all kinds of hot tools, at-home dye kits, the gamut of shampoo and conditioner types, basically every dry shampoo and hair oil in existence, and just about anything else to try for a story for you dear readers. Lots of products have either straight-up failed, been meh enough for me to not recommend, or fantastic but so costly that I feel guilty recommending them. Basically, a lot of stuff ends up in the trash or pawned off on my (grateful) friends when it isn't a fit for me. But THIS STUFF. This stuff has become my go-to for spraying on my wet hair and then blow drying. Normally I'd apply a heat protector and an oil treatment or leave-in conditioner before blow drying. But this 10-in-1 treatment takes the cake! Most of the time when I use it, I don't even need to finish off my hair with hair oil (I've been doing that as an essential hair step for years now). It's really that good! Here, I have freshly blow-dried hair with just this post-shower using this Amika blow-dryer brush. This brush is fantastic on its own but this spray-on treatment has more or less doubled this brush's effectiveness. My hair comes out feeling softer, looking shinier and healthier, and stays looking good for days — which is especially great news because I wash my hair about every four days. 'Tis time for me to unload a bunch of hair products I now no longer need to my friends." —Elizabeth Lilly

Get it from Mane Club for $8.

    17. Ilia's Limitless Lash Mascara to lengthen your lashes, of course, but also condition them with shea butter. No midday flaking here!

A before and after showing a buzzfeed writer's lashes look much longer and fuller after using the product
    Brittany Barber / BuzzFeed

    The mascara is cruelty-free.

"This mascara feels like it actually conditions my lashes when I have it on, and never feels crispy or clunky (like some do). Like, have you ever put on mascara and thought, frig, this is why my eyelashes are stunted? Yeah, that does NOT happen with this one, whatsoever. The fact that it's made with beeswax and shea butter makes me feel like I'm giving my lashes a little TLC, even though I'm wearing makeup. It also comes off super easily at night, which is great when I'm feeling lazy and don't want to deal with a full-on scrub down. And the results? The length it gives is no joke! I'm obsessed." —Brittany Barber

Get it from Ilia for $13+ (available in two sizes).

    18. A customized pack of MeUndies for shaking your booty in style. MeUndies aren't just cute — they're also super comfy and genuinely the softest underwear I've ever felt!

pack of blue, green, and magenta briefs

You can pick from classic colors, bold colors, or adventurous patterns! I love MeUndies — they're super cozy, wildly soft, and I love the variety of cuts! I have some briefs from them that I would colloquially say I "live in," but since they're underwear and must be washed after one day of wear, I'll more accurately say I live in them once a week, if I find the energy to do laundry. The long leg also makes them perfect for sleeping in when a baggy pajama bottom just doesn't sound comfortable. OK, I think I'm talking myself into getting a three-pack...the two pairs I have just aren't enough!

Get a three-pack from MeUndies for $45+ (available in women's sizes XS–4XL and 11 cuts and men's sizes S–4XL and six cuts).

I usually buy one pair of huaraches each summer and wear them EVERY day. This year I got this pair! I got them a few weeks ago (a pair for myself and a matching pair for my husband) and I'm a big fan! Once broken in they continue to feel sturdy and secure. I love wearing a shoe that looks light and summery, but also feels like my feet have real protection. —Mallory Mower

Get them from Nisolo for $120 (available in sizes 5–11 and in seven colors).

    20. A Tushy bidet, because your booty deserves a nice little shower after doing its business — it works hard!

"When I say that this has changed my life, I mean it. Truly, my boyfriend and I should be the next spokesperson for Tushy, because we've RAVED about it to anyone who is wiling to listen us talk about our butts. The amount of toilet paper we've saved since we started using this just a couple months ago...unfathomable. Not only is it great for the environment, it's great for the bum, too. No more harsh wiping and going through 15 sheets of paper just to feel clean. This actually makes you feel clean, like you took a shower without the hassle of, you know, taking an entire shower. EVERY TOILET NEEDS THIS!" —Kayla Suazo

Get it from Tushy for $99 (originally $129 available in 10 colors).

    21. A CeraVe moisturizer to keep your skin hydrated as can be, no matter the season. This will pair perfectly with serums but can also stand on its own if you're looking for a routine that's super duper simple.

BuzzFeed writer holding the large tub of moisturizer
    Marquaysa Battle / BuzzFeed

The moisturizer is fragrance- and oil-free. It's also hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic.

"Since the spring, I've been dealing with stress acne that I never had before in my life. I resorted to an acne cleanser and spot treatment but those products are typically drying (because they're literally meant to dry out the blemishes) SO this moisturizer has been super key for ensuring my skin doesn't dry out while I try to clear up the pimples. Aside from it living up to its 24-hour hydration promise (game-changer), it has also never broken out my sensitive skin and actually helps soothe the many skin irritations that I experience. In short, it's my holy grail and CeraVe better not ever stop making it. 😊" —Marquaysa Battle

Get it from Amazon for $14.83.

    22. A Chom Chom roller that wants nothing more than to replace your sticky paper lint rollers forever. When the fuzz compartment gets full, simply empty it out and keep on rollin'.

    Chelsea Stuart / BuzzFeed,

"I have two cats who shed like it's their full-time job and let me tell you — this thing is amazing. I used to vacuum my bed/rug/their favorite chair multiple times a week and follow that up with a traditional lint roller that I'd have to use 10 to 15 sheets of in one go. With this nifty tool, I give whatever I'm cleaning a few good rolls and then empty out enough fur to felt them few cat toys (I don't *actually* do that, but I could if I wanted to)." —Chelsea Stuart

Get it from Amazon for $24.95.

    23. Glossier Skin Tint for achieving just the right amount of coverage, while still allowing your skin to look!

    Nusrat Sultana / BuzzFeed

Skin Tint is vegan and cruelty-free.

It feels extremely lightweight on my skin to the point where it feels like I'm even wearing anything, so I think it's a perfect go-to for work and everyday makeup. Also, I love that I can just pat it on with my hands and be done in two minutes. It melts so easily into the skin! No tools needed. I'm on board, guys. And with my combo-oily skin, I've embraced the dewy look instead of fighting against it, and I love that with this, my face doesn't look matte or dry: it looks dewy and bright, and I look more awake." —Nusrat Sultana

Get it from Glossier for $26 (available in 12 shades).

    24. A large leather transport tote that's come to be one of Madewell's signature items and one of my most-used bags. I've owned and loved this thing for going on six years and it's showing no signs of slowing down.

    Rachel Dunkel / BuzzFeed

Random canvas totes may come and go, but nothing beats having a permanent, go-to bag. I've had this since college when I used it to carry my heavy load of books, my laptop, and other English major paraphernalia, but it's transitioned flawlessly into my adult life where — OK — I still use it to carry books and my computer. The leather is getting a lovely patina and the structure of the bag is as strong as the day I got it. NOT TODAY, SATAN! It was super easy to stick this repair tape over the slits and holes in my admittedly very old screen, and now I can keep my window open without inviting all the mosquitos in the neighborhood inside for a midnight snack." —Jonathan Mazzei

    28. A set of gold collagen masks to plump and brighten your under-eyes if you, say, stayed up until 1 a.m. playing The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild last night, which you've had for a year and have barely made a dent in. OK, that got a little too personal, sorry, I'm tired.

    Jasmin Sandal/BuzzFeed,

"I decided to put these golden gems to the test after coming off of a red-eye flight with practically no sleep. After cooling them off in the fridge (which is what was suggested on the packet), I applied them to my purpley, puffy eyes, and...w-o-w. Not only did I feel like I was receiving some kind of royal treatment (because, gold), but after 20 minutes, my undereyes appeared brighter and any fine lines that were once lingering had vanished! After wearing these I didn't feel compelled to apply concealer either, which is usually my go-to to disguise dark circles — and I even felt confident enough to go bare-faced for the rest of the day. 31. A set of colorful cable protectors to stop your chargers and cables from fraying like the dickens. You've had to spend far too much money over the years replacing them — that stops today!

    Emma Lord/BuzzFeed

"I (begrudgingly!!) got these recently for my Mac charger, because apparently the journey from my bedroom to the living room was just too much for my fragile cord's heart to bear, and it was starting to get worn at the charger end. This spiraled on in less than 10 seconds and has been great in terms of making sure the charger is still flexible and has some give, but isn't bending itself backward and daring me to let it break, either. Also loved how affordable it was compared to a $30 replacement charger." —Emma Lord

Get a four-pack from Amazon for $2.99+ (available in two colors).

    BREAD Beauty Supply

These products work best for hair types 3a–4c and is a Clean at Sephora product. The kit comes with the Gentle Milky Hair Cleanser, Creamy Deep Conditioner Hair Mask, Everyday Gloss Hair Oil, and a silky scrunchie.

"I've been using these products for at least the last four months (minus the oil which I have not tried yet) and I love how they work on my 4c kinks, coils, and curls to achieve moisture retention and overall softness. Between the shampoo and conditioner, I actually adore the shampoo a little more since it has a creamy/milky texture and doesn't lather too much (my preference). Still, the conditioner is pretty solid for restoring moisture and other nutrients. I've also grown to love that both those products come in packets and not bottles. They are a little different from product packaging that I've used in the past but I realize I'm able to get out the very, very last drop of product with these squeezable packets. It's far better than futile bottle shaking and I know when I throw a packet away, that it's truly empty and I got all my money's worth, baby! 🤑I enjoyed it enough to re-up on another box set for myself and get two more for friends." —Marquaysa Battle

    33. Hyper Skin Brightening Clearing Vitamin C Serum that's packed full of 15% vitamin C and vitamin E and will work tirelessly to renew your skin's rough texture, lessen hyperpigmentation, and give you a fabulous overall glow.

Hyper Skin is a Black woman-owned business founded by Desiree Verdejo. This product is paraben-, sulfate-, phthalate-, and scent-free.

I love a good vitamin C serum and this is one of the best I've tried. Because I'm a shopping writer and am always trying new products, it's rare for me to repurchase a skincare product, but I have already restocked this serum and definitely will again! It doesn't have the off-putting smell that some serums have and it doesn't feel tacky when it dries. It layers flawlessly under any moisturizer I've used and it helps get my complexion nice and smooth, especially around my mouth where I have some hormonal acne scarring. I could not recommend trying this product enough.

Get it from Urban Outfitters for $36.

    34. A Best of Porter Road meat delivery box, because grilling season — aka the best season — is in full swing! This sampler has everything from steaks and chops to ground beef and sausage, all pasture-raised.

    Rachel Dunkel / BuzzFeed

The box comes with two dry aged steaks, two pork chops, two pounds of dry aged ground beef, a pound of bacon, a pound of country sausage, and a pound of chorizo sausage. All of Porter Road's meat is pasture-raised, hormone-free, and free of antibiotics.

I love Porter Road, and I say this as someone who is generally resistant to getting any kind of groceries delivered. It's so nice to have a freezer full of "special occasion" meat that's easy to thaw and prepare for date nights (as much as you can have a date night in quar), celebrations, or just because! I'm no meat expert, but he pork chops and steaks definitely *taste* like they're higher-quality than what I'm getting at my grocer and the dry aged ground beef is just *chef's kiss*. I also love the sausage and bacon to have as part of a big 'ol breakfast since it's somewhat rare that we buy breakfast meat — definitely a fun treat!

Notably, I also think that this box is a great value. You get eight pounds of meat total, which, for a household of two, stretches across many many meals, usually with leftovers. I definitely recommend this as an easy way to ~elevate~ your carnivorous meals without you really needing to do anything! The meat speaks for itself.

Get it from Porter Road for $100.

    35. Some faithful Birkenstocks that are perfect for everything from long walks with pals to running errands, all with top-notch arch support.

Natalie's feet with two-strap flat sandal with a big shiny buckle on each strap, in shiny copper
    Natalie Brown / BuzzFeed

"I bought my first pair of Birks in the spring of either 2016 or 2017, and haven't looked back since. I now have two pairs — the second I got in 2019 — and while the first at this point needs one of its bottom soles replaced, they're both otherwise in excellent condition, which is remarkable considering I literally go back and forth between them and my Rothy's almost exclusively anytime the weather is above 70 degrees. (Also remarkable: you can legit get them repaired! You'd just have to find a certified repair center near you, using the brand's handy map.)

I've taken them to Mexico City and Italy along with all the time I spend wearing them in NYC, and on both walking-heavy trips, they kept my feet consistently comfy and blister-free. The secret's twofold: their cork-blend bottoms, which are made for all of our Goldilocks feet (not too cushiony, not too hard, but juuuuust right) and their leather straps that are soft where they meet your feet, so even if you have rose gold shininess on the top, you only have soft, non-blistering leather touching your skin. Their support is the only thing that helps keep my plantar fasciitis under control (I also own a pair of their arch supports, which I often wear with my Rothy's washable flats), and I've been known to wear 'em around the house in the winter for precisely this reason." —Natalie Brown

Get them from Zappos, or Free People for $79.95+ (available in sizes 35-46 and multiple colors and styles).  (FYI, the brand doesn't sell on Amazon).
