If you're projecting your movie onto a screen or wall, you can pin or tape Christmas lights around the movie screen and turn off the big light for a warm glow. Ooh, cosy.

2. OR just change the bulb!

Switch all your bulbs for coloured ones to match the mood: a red or green bulb for a horror movie, a blue tint for anything wintery, and an orange bulb for a snuggly romance. Easy.

3. Plan when you pee. Seriously.

4. Bring back blanket forts.

7. Search eBay for vintage cinema seats.

The flip-up kind. Because they fold after use and are easier to store when you're not using them, but are great emergency seating when you have guests over.

If you're watching a romantic or Christmas movie, pile on the blankets and search YouTube for a free "open fire" video to put on in the background.

Just like regular bingo but instead of numbers you fill your board with movie clichés.

Check out apps like YEAH! Movies that give you trivia as you watch. No longer will you wonder what film that guy was from.

11. And if you're brave, screen it outside.

All you need is a sheet for a projection screen (and a projector, obviously) – and lots of snacks, hot drinks, blankets, and woolly hats. Ooh, cosy.
