It can be a struggle working at the airport, as you spend the day crying about all the holidays that you’re not going on, but it has its perks. Thumbnail (c) BBC.

    1. For one, you’re never short of ideas for holiday destinations.

    2. And you know exactly the best time to fly.

    3. You secretly curse your colleagues whenever they go on holiday and you’re working.

    4. And seeing them in holiday clothing is really weird.

    5. But when it’s actually your turn to go on holiday, you’ve perfected the smug walk past all your colleagues.

    6. You know the airport so well, you’re a pro when it comes to flying through yourself.

    7. But it means that you have no patience for your travelling companions when they want to look round the shops.

    8. When it’s time to go back to work, you’re suitably upset.

    9. And you get really happy when you meet a passenger who’s going somewhere you’ve been…

    10. And you make a point of telling them to casually let them know that you’re a well-travelled scamp yourself.

    11. You hear the same questions a dozen times a day…

    12. In a dozen different languages.

    13. You’ll have your lunch taken off you at least once.

    14. The novelty of tax free shopping never really wears off.

    15. Snow days are ruined FOREVER.

    16. Passengers REALLY hate being delayed, but the staff hate it more.

    17. When they DO go on time, there’s certain flights that you dread having to serve.

    18. And you’ll definitely face the awkward situation of waking a sleeping passenger.

    19. But you can meet some really interesting people!

    20. And they have great stories to tell.

    21. You and your colleagues quietly lose your shit when a ~celebrity~ flies through.

    22. You learn a lot about geography.

    23. And about yourself.

    24. And there’s something pretty sweet about sending people on their holidays.

    25. And you have an endless source of inspiration for your own travels.
