phoebeharper commented on 21 Examples Of "Kid Logic" That Are Equally Dumb And Funny

I asked my mom once, when I was little, why musicians were allowed to use bad grammar in their songs (specifically, I think it was the word "ain't" in a country song). She told me they were using artistic license. For YEARS, I thought that meant they had to apply for a physical license…

The House of the Spirits and Portrait in Sepia, both by Isabel Allende. I read them in high school and they've stuck with me since then.

phoebeharper commented on What The World Doesn't Understand About Britney Spears

She didn’t dance. She’d do a phrase or two with her backup dancers, then just stand there. There’s an entire song where she’s hoisted in a harness and therefore immobile. All she should be doing is singing, but she even lip-synced that song. There was an audible difference between…

phoebeharper commented on An Adult Followed 8 High School Dress Codes And It Was Really Hard

I see some people commenting below about having uniforms, and it reminded me that my mom always used to say she wished they'd just implement a uniform policy. It would have been easier to dress us in a uniform than try to find regular clothes that fit the dress code, and it would…

phoebeharper commented on An Adult Followed 8 High School Dress Codes And It Was Really Hard

My middle school wouldn't allow us to wear solid blue, red, or pink (gang colors), anything with a logo or writing, shoes that weren't a solid color, hair that wasn't a "naturally-occurring" color, tank tops of any kind, skirts that didn't reach our knees, and probably other stuff…

phoebeharper commented on What The World Doesn't Understand About Britney Spears

I'd be more impressed if I hadn't watched her lip-sync her way through her concert in Vegas. We left early because we figured if we wanted to listen to the recorded version of her songs, we could do that for free at home, with booze we didn't pay $20a shot for. I've got nothing against…

phoebeharper commented on CBS's New Shows Feature A Whole Lot Of White Guys

Hey, Buzzfeed: I read the description for Pure Genius and watched the trailer but couldn't for the life of me figure out what a veterinarian had to do with the plot. I Googled it and now I wonder...is it possible you meant "veteran surgeon," as the CBS description says, rather than…

phoebeharper commented on The 22 Dumbest Questions Ever Asked By Kids In Sex Ed

I mean, lots of things are awkward but that doesn't mean parents shouldn't be talking to their kids. Discussing underage drinking is awkward but parents should still do it. And yeah, there should also be discussions being had outside the home. Sex ed can start as early as school…
