This fake video profile for eHarmony has received over 25 million views.

2. LonelyGirl15

The internet was captivated by the somber life of lonelygirl15 before she was revealed to be a character in a fictional web series.

3. MC Chris

The Reddit community outed MC Chris’ heavy-handed and rude stage antics. MC Chris responded with an over-the-top crying apology which was widely considered to be for show.

4. Dax Flame

In 2007, aspiring actor Madison Patrello, gained fame by convincingly portraying a socially awkward 15-year-old boy who posted under the name Dax Flame. It landed him some Hollywood acting gigs.

5. The Shell Chocolate Oil Spill

This video of a malfunctioning oil rig cake at a reception of Shell executives was actually the work of the culture-jamming Yes Men.

This video, seen by 10 million people, is phony baloney. Many onions were needlessly harmed because of this video.

K-Strass tricked small TV stations into having him on as a guest, which resulted in painfully awkward interactions.
