You don't need to have seen Season 1 or 2 to tune into Coven.
The show functions like an anthology. So a lot of the same cast may be back, but they play completely different characters every year.
This year it's all about — SURPRISE! — a coven of witches.
Jessica Lange will play a witch, who's referred to as The Supreme(-ly Flawless).
She played a seriously screwed-up nun last season and now I can't even watch Sister Act without getting the creeps.
So thanks for that, Jess.
Kathy Bates is also joining the cast this year.
She's know for her iconic role in Stephen King's creeptastic Misery.
She'll be playing Madame Delphine LaLaurie aka The Sadist, which hopefully means more psychotic smiles like that.
Oh yeah, and Gabourey Sidibe (Precious) is joining too.
And Angela Bassett (What's Love Got to Do With It).
I'm pretty sure they just went down the list of Academy Award nominees to cast this thing but hey, no complaints.
It takes place in New Orleans and it's actually being shot largely on location, which is rad.
And in traditional American Horror Story fashion, the story will span both the present day and the past.
Which means there's definitely going to be voodoo, witch-burning, and probably more serious subplots revolving around segregation and the area's political turmoil.
Either way, LOOK AT HOW GLAMOROUS IT'S GOING TO BE!

And it's guaranteed to be creepy.

I'm not saying I had to buy a night-light last season, but if I DID, that would be acceptable.
Also, this cutie is in it.
His name is Evan Peters, and he'll apparently be playing a frat boy.
He's precious. Look at that smile.
Ugh.
Moving on! It looks like it'll be sexy but in a probably disturbing kind of way.
Also there was a promo with this lady eating a snake that confused everyone a lot.
So basically: Everyone is brilliant and Coven is going to be aaaahmazzzing.
