BuzzFeed caught up with the man behind the Vines to find out more. We spoke on the phone and he was a lot calmer than he is in most of his Vines.

"I started doing a couple of compilations [of Vines] and since then it's gone viral. I've added about 70,000 followers on the back of that. That's insane isn't it?" he tells BuzzFeed.

His full name is Arthur Wallace, he's 29 and originally from Luton. He's has had more than 500,000 followers on Vine for the last year but is just breaking through to a wider audience thanks to a handful of those video compilations on YouTube and Facebook.

His Facebook page is inching towards 200,000 likes, up from around 100,000 last week.

He's only made a handful of Vines in the last year because he's been busy with a newborn baby, who has featured in a few clips (as well as his Xbox).

He explains that he got into Vine and started gaining popularity almost by accident.

My mate just sent me this Vine and I started messing about with it. Then people started following me, which was weird. I wasn't even doing anything, I was just being very random. A couple of big Viners spotted me and did a few revines for me, and it started from there really.

He says that the traffic Vines came about because he had "run out ideas".

He says: "It got to the point where I’d used everything up in my life and lifestyle – I’d done everything I possibly can, I resorted to the traffic ones and they ended up being the ones that have made me."

He really does get very angry about traffic.

And he can't quite figure out why we call it a "rush hour".

Because he's a London-based man who's popular for being funny on Vine, he's naturally been compared to Dapper Laughs, whose career ended in spectacular fashion this month.

Arthur even remade a couple of Dapper's early Vines last year, as is customary on Vine (Viners are always remaking versions of other people's Vines and tagging the originator in the description).

But Arthur says he was just supporting Dapper, who was only starting to gain popularity then.

"I done them remakes for him because he only had a couple of hundred followers at the time and I had a few hundred thousand. He used to ask me for help quite regularly and I happily helped him," he says.

Arthur says he feels "a bit sorry" for Dapper, but that's all he'll say on the matter.

Going through the months of Arthur's past Vines, you will see the occasional post that will raise eyebrows – things that could, for example, leave him open to accusations of being sexist. Does he see why some people would be offended by some things he posts?

"I can see why a sensitive person would find it offensive but I don't think I've ever actually crossed a line. I think most of the offensive things I say are on pattern with the rest of the Vine," he says.

It is worth mentioning that the woman in his Vines is his girlfriend, Carly, whose knowing eye-rolling shows she is in on the act. He does not, unlike Dapper Laughs, approach women in the street as part of his Vines.

Arthur says he has no plans for the future, other than to say: "Obviously I’d like to earn some money out of it, that would be nice."

So if you're out on the roads and you see someone driving a truck, filming themselves experiencing some extreme road rage, now you know why.
