Cardi B Just Got Liposuction, Announced It While Performing, And Then Explained Why She Said Anything At All

At this point, there's no way you haven't heard of Cardi B. The 26-year-old has been breaking barriers for women in hip-hop, dominating the Billboard charts with hits like "I Like It," and sweeping every major music award show.

When it comes to speaking her mind, Cardi tends to keep it 100. So I wasn't surprised to learn that she'd recently opened up about getting liposuction during a massive festival set in Memphis, Tennessee.

"I should have canceled today, because moving too much is gonna fuck up my lipo," she told the Beale Street Music Festival audience. "But bitch, I'm still gonna get this motherfucking money back. Let's go!"

The star addressed her comments last night at the launch of her latest Fashion Nova collaboration. "I really wanna explain to people how hard [the liposuction process is]," she told ET.

"I feel like a lot of people look at girls on Instagram and think, like, 'Oh, they got their lipo done, and it was so easy,' and it's just such a long, hard process," she explained. "It's almost like the same process as after you give birth to a baby, and you see your body change, and [work to snap it] back. But I'll talk later about it more."

Cardi gave birth to her first child, Kulture Kiari, last July, and has since been very candid about her relationship with her post-pregnancy body. In fact, a few days before announcing her lipo surgery, she revealed that she'd just gotten her "boobs redone" because "[her] daughter f***ed [her] up."

"I feel good, and then sometimes I feel, like, not," she told ET, in regards to her body. "Your skin is more stretched out."

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, 62% of mothers said they'd "consider a 'mommy makeover' that includes procedures such as a tummy tuck, breast augmentation and/or breast lift."

"In the last decade we've seen women's attitudes about cosmetic surgery change," reported ASPS President Phillip Haeck, MD. "Today women are not afraid to admit that they love their children, but they wish their bodies looked the way they did before their first pregnancies. And they're not afraid to acknowledge that they may need a little help beyond a healthy diet and exercise."

More celebrities are speaking up about having had "mommy makeovers," helping to remove the shame and disgrace historically associated with cosmetic plastic surgery. Back in December, culinary mogul and lifestyle influencer Ayesha Curry said she, too, had gotten her "boobs done" after her first pregnancy.

"The funniest rumor that I've ever heard about myself is that I got my boobs done and it was funny because I totally did," she said while cracking up. "Listen, I nursed my daughter, my first daughter, for 15 months. Give me a break."

Now, I've never breastfed a new human being after housing them for months on end before pushing them out of my vagina/getting a C-section. So, I can't even begin imagine how Cardi, or Ayesha, or any mother for that matter, feels about their body and the miraculous journey it experienced.
