I’m black, and had essentially the same feeling watching the movie.Ithought it was technically well done, but that it does feel like an immature “apology” to slavery. What’s strange to me is that none of the major reviews that I’ve read say anything about how under-developed the black characters are, they just talk about how the extreme and tasteless violence somehow displays tarantino’s deeper understanding of the brutality of slavery.Irespect tarantino asadirector, mainly off of his first three movies, butIwish he would get back to the gangster dramas. His last three movies come off as patronizing, inarticulate, rage fantasies from an american white male.
