Alpine School District in Utah Keeps Schools Open on Snowy Day Resulting in Hilarious Memes from Angry Students

While literally every other school was closed and having a snow day, Alpine School District keeps their schools open. Students, parents and teachers were extremely upset with this decision. Students are creative and take to Instagram to express their feelings through memes.

Basically everyone is upset about the schools in the district being open. I felt I should write about this hilarious day.

Although most school districts decided to have a snow day, Alpine School District keeps schools open. Kimberly Bird, the spokesperson for ASD states "We made the decision early this morning that our schools are open and a safe place for kids to be while a lot of their parents are at work." The reasoning behind the district's decision is clear and makes sense on any other day however, reaching schools was extremely difficult for most faculty and students. Many could not get their cars out of the built up snow, many got in crashes on the way there, many simply did not go. Buses were delayed all over the district. In the comments of ASD's Facebook post this morning, people from the community shared how much the buses were struggling. There have been multiple reports of bus crashes, buses not being able to climb uphill to pick up students, etc. Many people are concerned about the district's ability to prioritize safety and make good decisions for the community. ASD has been quick to shorten school days when sporting events occur during school, but when weather conditions are severe schools remain open. Alpine School District's Facebook post this morning has over 2,000 comments. Everyone is angry and students across the district are bonding through memes about the district on Instagram. An account was created called @/alpinedistrictsnowday that is posting memes from students across the district. In just four hours the account has close to 3,000 followers. The memes are hilarious and here's a lot of them. (also just pics and vids from the day) enjoy.

We have always had problems with crashes around the high schools (cause it's so easy to get your license and most of u suck at driving), but today of all days schools should have been closed. From posts I saw and from people telling me, cars were spinning left and right and there were so. many. crashes.

Teachers and substitute teachers couldn't get to schools safely

This was taken shortly after school had started, 7:45 a.m., with the caption ""go to the gym if your teacher is not here" there's maybe 5 teachers here..." Most students who went to school today did not arrive on time. On the Facebook page mentioned earlier, in the comments section someone reported that eventually one and a half gyms were filled with students. (i would have said something like one and a half out of x gyms were filled but i literally cannot remember how many gyms we have its a lot tho it might only be like three but thats still a lot anyways)

If teachers could get to school, no one learned a single thing (except maybe how to edit memes)

Pictured are four students. Four. In every post I saw on insta today, if teachers were at school, the class was so empty that students sat on their phones or watched movies as a class. I saw that someone got to watch Coco though so that makes going to school and braving the harsh weather worth your time right?

"I decided to experience what our superiors desired of me to experience" The amount of pictures and videos I saw of people diving into the many feet deep snow today is insane. I'm glad many embraced the weather. I sat at home and watched my cat watch the snow falling outside

Snow plows couldn't reach some neighborhoods, most people took hours to shovel their driveways to attempt to get where they needed to be. My dad just shoveled for three hours ??? love that anyways, visit the instagram page mentioned earlier the memes are amazing trust me.
