Amy Schumer Just Started An Awesome Twitter Trend Based On Her Hilarious "Girl You Don't Need Makeup" Sketch
This is the boy band parody about societal beauty standards you need in your life.
Last night's episode of "Inside Amy Schumer" featured an amazing, hilarious sketch called "Girl You Don't Need Makeup," a boy band parody reminiscent of One Direction's "You Don't Know You're Beautiful."
In it, a boy band starts out telling Amy that she doesn't need makeup because she's naturally beautiful.
They tell her to reject the unrealistic societal beauty standards perpetuated by magazines and go natural.
The anthem is ♪ Just wipe it off, wipe it off ♪
However, once they see a makeup-free Amy, they quickly change their tune (literally).
Wipe it off becomes ♪ Just put it on, put it on. ♪
Accompanied by some metaphors, all of which get at the hypocritical "Natural's ok...as long as you still look perfectly made up."
Before the episode aired, Amy encouraged peeps to share their #girlyoudontneedmakeup photos.
And lots of people did.
And it was glorious.
And filled with lots of positivity and self-acceptance.
And all-around awesomeness.
Even Zach Braff got in on it.
Amy started something amazing last night.
And all the lovely people who participated in this trend picked up this message, spread the self-love, and gave us a powerful reminder: #girlyoudontneedmakeup.
