Hi there! I’m Olivia, and I’m a happy, healthy, plus-size woman. I love clothes, but I have a small budget — so making my dream of a closet full of gorgeous items a reality has always been a bit of a challenge.

Right after I had my son, I started a new office job — and thanks to my pregnancy weight gain, none of my pre-baby clothes fit. I desperately needed new ones, but the mall became my personal hell: My toddler hated his stroller and would cry while locked in, as I cried with him because I couldn’t find anything affordable that actually looked good on me in any of the stores. Shopping online was expensive, and shipping often took too long.

    Then one day, everything changed.

In 2013, I discovered Gwynnie Bee, an online clothing subscription for sizes 10–32.

Gwynnie Bee (or GB, as I like to affectionately call it), quite frankly, changed my life.

Here’s how it works: When you sign up, you'll be asked what brand fits you best in dresses, tops, and pants. They'll recommend a few pieces for you, but you can fill your “closet” with as many clothes as you like. There are several different subscriptions available, from as little as one item to as many as 10 that you can try at a time. (New members can also start off with a 30-day free trial on a two-item plan.) GB mails you the clothes along with a prepaid shipping label for returns. You keep the item for as long as you want to, then mail it back when you’re done. GB sends you something else, and the wonderful cycle continues. Easy as that!

Subscriptions start at $49 for one item, up to $199 for 10-item plans. You can cancel at any time, and if you fall in love with a piece, you can buy it for a fraction of the retail price. You can also return items for different sizes in the same month if you have any fit issues.

GB has an amazing selection of clothes that are cut and made specifically for plus-size women.

They have a size chart for each brand (which is immensely helpful, since sizing can vary widely by clothing line) and include customer reviews to help you determine if the clothes run large or small. Thanks to GB, I’ve been introduced to brands I’ve never heard of and I always have something nice to wear to work or anywhere else — always! If there’s a problem, I simply email their responsive customer service and it gets handled, and you can even email 'em to get free personalized clothing recommendations.

As a plus-size woman, it can be a struggle to maintain confidence, and having attractive clothes to wear every day really does a lot for my self-esteem.

I can look fabulous whether I’m bloated, whether I lose weight, gain weight, feel sick, whatever — and my closet isn't cluttered with clothes that I don't wear or that don't fit.

I *loved* the pink Julia Jordan honeycomb dress pictured above so much I actually bought it. (GB sells it for $27, aka a ton less than its $163 retail price.) It's such an elegant piece in a beautiful dusty pink, and even better — it has pockets! And I was surprised by how much I adored the sleeveless cardigan, but I wound up buying that one as well (for $14, versus its $79 retail value); it's thick and warm and can be dressed up or dressed down, so I thought it was a great versatile piece to add to my wardrobe. (In the four years I've been a member I've only bought 14 items out of the 350+ I've worn. I've wanted to buy more, but I'm cheap — remember, I'm on a budget!)

I've had coworkers mention they're amazed by the variety of clothes I wear — and this subscription has truly become as essential to me as my cell phone. I recommend GB to every woman over a size 12. If they were to ever go out of business I really have no idea what I'd do!

GB subscribers even have a Facebook group, where we post pictures of what we’re wearing, share tips on how the item actually fits, trade clothes, and sometimes just talk about life. Here are a few of them in outfits they've loved:

“I have been a member of Gwynnie Bee for about six months now and I absolutely love it!! It has brought me so much joy and increased my self-esteem by leaps and bounds. To be able to find gorgeous plus-size clothing in my size and try it out with the option to buy is invaluable to me. If I were to sum up my experience with Gwynnie Bee, I would have to say: It has made me feel beautiful again.” —Shannon Thompson

“I love GB because it allows me to wear outfits like this, which are totally out of my normal, and still look amazing!” —Lawanda H.

"Gwynnie Bee has given me the opportunity to expand my fashion beyond wearing things that I thought were my style by giving me a chance to step outside my comfort zone...such as wearing pink. Before Gwynnie Bee, I wouldn't have even tried on anything pink, much less worn it in public; I wore a lot of dark colors Now I can't get enough color in my life and discovered not only do I like pink, but I look good in it!” —Meshel

Subscribe to Gywnnie Bee starting at $49 per plan.
