James David Manning, the gravelly-voiced chief pastor of the ATLAH World Missionary Church in Harlem, believes Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney were sired by black men. Manning explains this is because Gingrich was born Newton Leroy McPherson (true), Romney was born Willard Mitt Romney (true), and “nobody on the planet” names their children Leroy or Willard except black people (false).
In the last election cycle, Manning was a secondary figure in the Birther movement, which believed — without evidence — that President Barack Obama was born outside the United States. Now, he’s apparently moved on to fresh targets (even if the signs on his set haven’t).
