In his State of the Union Address, President Obama named New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman to lead a mortgage abuse unit that would investigate and redress the perceived wrongs committed by Wall Street in connection with the mortgage crisis. Today Schneiderman fired his first shot, filing a suit alleging that several major banks and a mortgage registration service engaged in fraudulent foreclosures.
