Supreme Court Strikes Down DOMA, Giving Equal Rights To All Married Gay Couples

The Supreme Court ruled 5-4 that a key part of the Defense Of Marriage Act is unconstitutional on Wednesday morning, extending federal marriage benefits to the 12 states that have legalized gay marriage. "DOMA is unconstitutional as a deprivation of... equal liberty," wrote Justice Kennedy for the majority. It's a huge civil rights victory for the country's 130,000 legally married same-sex couples.
