    San Francisco Transit Strike Strands Nearly Half A Million Commuters

    Workers for Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) started a strike at 3 a.m. Monday morning, after union leaders walked out of a pay negotiation hours before workers' contracts expired. The San Francisco-area transit system serves around 400,000 daily riders.
