7. Harry Potter and The Order Of Phoenix

This is the lengthiest book of the series. Here the readers are introduced to the Order of Phoenix - secret society formed by Dumbledore which becomes a crucial part in thwarting Lord Voldemort. Although order of phoenix has its fair share of moments the writing is painfully slow paced with unnecessary details.

6. Harry Potter and The Chamber Of Secrets

Chamber of secrets, the second book of the series employs the same technique of its predecessor - a compelling mystery and the subsequent adventure of the golden trio in the unravelling of the said mystery. Even with interesting plot points like the heir of Slytherin, Tom Riddle’s diary, the Basilisk; this book feels a little bland in comparison. It does not expand beyond the horizons set by its precursor. The biggest vice would be absence of Hermione in the majority of the book.

5. Harry Potter and The Sorcerer’s Stone

A perfect start to one of the biggest and most successful franchise of all time. This is the book where we fell in love with the world of magic. This book doesn’t really have many flaws but upon rereads it doesn’t stand up to those that come later.

4. Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows

The final and epic conclusion to the Potter saga, Deathly Hallows breaks free from the predictable school year plot and follows Harry, Ron, and Hermione as they search for the remaining Horcruxes. It’s one tale filled with love, loss, friendship, sacrifice and fighting for “The Greater Good”. There certainly are heart breaking moments but we bid adieu to our favorite series with a smile on our faces.

3. Harry Potter and The Prisoner Of Azkaban

Harry’s third year at Hogwarts encompasses a series of twists and turns. Remus Lupin and Sirius Black make their introductions here, standing out as some of the best characters of the series. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban may be the only book to not include Lord Voldemort. This book also gives us the iconic phrases like “I solemnly swear I’m up to no good”, “Mischief managed” and many more.

2. Harry Potter and The Goblet Of Fire

This book uses a tournament style structure, presenting a new and exciting series of scenarios for Harry to tackle. We get to know from the beginning of the book that something sinister is being planned in the background of the tournament. The Quidditch World Cup, Triwizard Tournament, Yule Ball; the fourth book of the series has a lot to offer. The ending is also fantastic, with Voldemort’s chilling resurrection and return to power and the dramatic reveal of the imposter disguised as Alastor Moody.

1. Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince

Out of all the books in series Half-blood prince stands out the most for me. It explores the backstory of Tom Riddle, his life and how he turned out to be Lord Voldemort. Questions like identity of the half blood prince, the task given to Draco keep the readers on the edge of their seats. We also witness some of the best moments, such as when Dumbledore remarks that he is not worried because he is with Harry makes us realize that they have evolved so much from a teacher and student dynamic to one of mutual trust and respect.
