The New Cover For Marvel's Queer Latina Superhero Comic Is Dope As Hell

"OK, ladies, now let's get in formation."

So for those who haven't delved into the wonderful world of comics, this is America Chavez — Marvel's badass superhero who's a proud queer Latina.

On Tuesday, Comic artist Joe Quinones shared the cover for issue #2 of America, heavily inspired by Beyoncé's visual album Lemonade...and it's goddamn gorgeous!

"Okay ladies, now let's get in formation." Here's my cover to issue 2 of America for @Marvel #americachavez

Gabby Rivera, the Boricua writer and young adult author behind the series, shared the photo on Instagram and gave praise to Quinones' work.

And Quinones had a fun time doing the artwork for the issue:

People are absolutely loving it:

It's got people fucked up.

Some are saying it's the best cover they've ever seen.

And some people are just blown away.

It's kinda hard not to be in awe, tbh.

Having a queer and Latina superhero like America Chavez is important, now more than ever. When asked in an interview with Refinery29 about how America will represent women, Rivera had this to say:

"I love women. I love myself. I feel like sometimes I’m not considered a woman. People assume I’m a masculine kind of person because I wear hats or boots. And to me, womanhood is so flexible and so ever-expanding and how beautiful is it to show all the ways that it manifests? And especially when it comes to Latinas and Black women. Our bodies’ shapes and sizes vary, and are equally supported by the community and equally loved."

Hopefully, this will be the first of MANY queer and Latina superheroes to come. The series will hit shelves on March 1.
