Taylor talked about the cycle of inspiration, saying, "I just wrote a song based on something she made, which she made while listening to something I made, which is the most meta thing that has ever happened to me."

    3. The voice at the beginning of "London Boy" is from Idris Elba's appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden where he talked about a perfect date scenario.

    4. "It's Nice to Have A Friend" features the youth choir from the Regent Park School of Music in Toronto — the proceeds from the sales of the library go to help fund the school.

    6. Taylor originally thought the title of this album was going to be "Daylight" — once she wrote "Lover" she knew immediately that it would be the title of the album.

    7. "Lover," "Cornelia Street," and "Daylight" are the three songs on the album that Taylor wrote by herself.

    8. Some of the other writers featured on Lover include Jack Antonoff, St. Vincent, and Louis Bell and Frank Dukes, who co-wrote Camila Cabello's "Havana."

    9. "Soon You'll Get Better" is about her mom Andrea's battle with cancer. Taylor said that as a family they decided to put it on the album.

    10. Also, Taylor said that she's not sure if she'd ever be able to play "Soon You'll Get Better" live.

    11. Besides being an inspiration for Taylor growing up, the inclusion of the Dixie Chicks on Lover also connects to Taylor finally publicly speaking about politics, something the Dixie Chicks are known for.

In an interview with The Guardian, Taylor talked about how country music made an example of the Dixie Chicks, saying, "The number one thing they absolutely drill into you as a country artist, and you can ask any other country artist this, is 'Don’t be like the Dixie Chicks!' I watched country music snuff that candle out. The most amazing group we had, just because they talked about politics."

    12. Lover is the first album Taylor 100% owns — of course, this comes after Scooter Braun purchased the masters of Taylor's previous six albums.

    13. Taylor wrote the song "Lover" on her piano at home before polishing it up in the studio.

    14. The "Lover" music video concept was inspired by the lyric "you two are dancing in a snow globe round and round" from "You Are In Love."

    15. "The Man" is a song that Taylor describes as wanting to write "for ages."

    16. Also, Taylor said one of the inspirations behind "The Man" was when she would think about "what my career or headlines would have been like if I was a man instead of a woman."

    17. "Cornelia Street" is one of Taylor's favorite songs on Lover.

    18. Taylor's favorite lyrics on Lover are from "Death By a Thousand Cuts" — "Our songs, our films, united we stand / Our country, guess it was a lawless land / Quiet my fears with the touch of your hand / Paper cut stains from our paper-thin plans."

    19. And finally, after only one day of sales, Lover had the biggest sales week of 2019 in the US for an album.
