15 TV Shows Premiering This Summer That We're Super Excited About

1. Space Force

Space Force follows decorated pilot Mark Naird, who dreams of running the Air Force. Instead, he's asked to lead a newly formed sixth branch of the US Armed Forces: Space Force. Mark ends up taking his family to a remote base in Colorado where he now works with an eclectic group of scientists and "Spacemen," who are tasked with getting the US to the moon (again). The series was co-created by Steve Carell and The Office creator Greg Daniels.

2. I Know This Much Is True

HBO

Based on the novel of the same name, the limited series follows the lives of identical twin brothers Dominick and Thomas Birdsey. I Know This Much Is True explores the family's stories of betrayal, sacrifice, and forgiveness.

Starring: Mark Ruffalo, Melissa Leo, Rosie O'Donnell, Archie Panjabi, Imogen Poots, Juliette Lewis, Kathryn Hahn, and Aisling Franciosi.

3. Hightown

Hightown follows Jackie Quiñones, a free-spirited National Marine Fisheries Service agent who discovers a body in Cape Cod Bay after a night of partying. In order to deal with the trauma, Jackie decides to take her sobriety seriously after convincing herself that it's her duty to help solve the murder. Alongside Sergeant Ray Abruzzo, the duo cross a lot of lines in the name of the investigation.

Starring: Monica Raymund, Riley Voelkel, James Badge Dale, Shane Harper, Amaury Nolasco, and Atkins Estimond.

4. Love, Victor

Inspired by Love, Simon, this new series follows Victor, a new student at Creekwood High who embarks on his own journey of self-discovery while also dealing with challenges at home, adjusting to a new town, and struggling with his sexual orientation. When everything seems like it's too much, Victor reaches out to Simon to help him navigate the ups and downs of high school.

Starring: Michael Cimino, Nick Robinson, Ana Ortiz, James Martinez, Rachel Naomi Hilson, Bebe Wood, and Sophia Bush.

When it premieres: Jun. 19 on Hulu.

5. Quiz

Quiz follows Charles Ingram, a former member of the Royal Engineers, who unexpectedly and shockingly won the £1,000,000 jackpot on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? in 2001. The series dives into his win and the criminal trial that followed, where he and his wife were convicted of cheating.

Starring: Matthew Macfadyen, Sian Clifford, Michael Sheen, Mark Bonnar, Aisling Bea, Elliot Levey, Helen McCrory, and Michael Jibson.

When it premieres: May 31 on AMC.

6. Brave New World

Based on Aldous Huxley's novel, Brave New World shows a utopian society that has achieved peace and stability through the prohibition of monogamy, privacy, money, family, and history itself. Bernard and Lenina go on a vacation to the Savage Lands, where they are swept up in a violent rebellion. Soon, they are rescued by John the Savage, who escapes with them back to New London. However, John’s arrival soon threatens to disrupt its utopian harmony.

7. Central Park

This new animated musical comedy tells the story of the Tillermans, a family that lives in Central Park. Owen and Paige raise their two kids, Molly and Cole, in the world's most famous park while fending off hotel heiress Bitsy and her assistant, who want to turn the park into condos.

Starring: Kristen Bell, Josh Gad, Daveed Diggs, Tituss Burgess, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., and Stanley Tucci.

8. Perry Mason

Based on characters from Erle Stanley Gardner’s novels, Perry Mason tells the origin story of Perry Mason, a famed defense lawyer. Set in 1932 Los Angeles, the series follows Perry as a struggling private investigator who is haunted by his wartime experiences and is dealing with his recently deteriorated marriage.

9. Snowpiercer

Inspired by Bong Joon-ho's film, Snowpiercer follows the passengers on board Snowpiercer, a giant, perpetually moving train that circles the globe carrying those that remain seven years after the world became uninhabitable. Like the film, the series dives into class warfare, social injustice, and the need for survival.

Starring: Jennifer Connelly, Daveed Diggs, Mickey Sumner, Alison Wright, Lena Hall, Susan Park, Steven Ogg, Rowan Blanchard, and Iddo Goldberg.

11. Stargirl

The CW / DC Universe

Based on the DC comic books, Stargirl follows Courtney, a high school sophomore, as she ends up inspiring an unlikely group of young heroes to stop the villains of the past. The series reimagines the first superhero team, the Justice Society of America.

13. The Capture

The Capture is a dark thriller that examines the world of fake news and the capabilities of the intelligence services. The series puts a spotlight on what happens when power is abused, especially when it comes to video surveillance and facial recognition. The series aired in the UK late last year.

14. The Baby-Sitters Club

15. And finally, Intelligence

This workplace comedy is set in the UK's Government Communications Headquarters, a geekier version of MI5 and MI6. The team tackles international and domestic cybercrime all from behind their computers. Intelligence follows Jerry, an NSA agent from the US who is tasked with helping inept computer analyst Joseph. The series aired in the UK earlier this year.

Starring: David Schmimmer and Nick Mohammed.

When it premieres: July 15 on Peacock.
