🚨Warning: MASSIVE spoilers ahead for Grey's Anatomy Season 17, Episode 4!🚨
Hi, hello. Let's get right to it again: Grey's Anatomy Season 17 is in full swing, and this season has been all about the coronavirus pandemic so far.
Namely, we've been watching Meredith Grey struggle after she contracted COVID-19 during the two-hour season premiere.
So, Meredith has been visiting a beach in her dream-like state and it's there that she reunited with Derek.
And while this MerDer reunion was something right out of my Grey's Anatomy dream journal, this week's episode featured the return of a second original character, and it was equally as emotional.
As Meredith gets worse in the real world, she continues to wander this beach and suddenly sees someone.
And it was none other than George O'Malley, and I fully started crying upon hearing him say, "Mer?"
That's right, T.R. Knight returned to Grey's for the first time since his departure in Season 5.
George and Meredith got to catch up and talk about things I never thought they would get the chance to, which was just so exciting to see as a longtime fan.
And Meredith got to tell George how his death changed her and how much he impacted her.
While the reminiscing was great, George also told Meredith that she needs to return to her kids, to Richard, and to the rest of her family, because losing her would break them.
As if the George and Meredith reunion wasn't enough, the last moment of the episode featured Richard, Meredith, George, and Bailey just sitting together. My heart honestly couldn't take it.
Talking about his big return, T.R. Knight explained to Deadline how much the final moment meant to him, saying, "I’m still trying to put into words how profound the experience was for me, so just hearing [about the final scene] made my eyes leak saltwater a little bit."
Also, T.R. took to Instagram to thank Ellen Pompeo for being an incredible acting partner and saying that while George and Meredith love each other, nothing compares to the love he has for Ellen:
And Ellen's response was simply the best:
Basically, like me, everyone is emotional about George's return to Grey's Anatomy. Here are some of the best tweets from the cast, the crew, and fans about the moment:
And yes, I'm mentally preparing for more people to show up on this beach and just so I can scream it in yet another place: if it's Lexie Grey, someone please check on me.
