I live in Texas now but tried most of these when I was growing up in Southern California. It's not even much of a Southern thing.

A lot of the people in my support groups for people who grew up with narcissistic or otherwise abusive parents have a hard time watching Tangled because of Mother Gothel. Her portrayal as an abusive, overly-controlling, self-centered person was spot-on.
