Response to Millionaire Hedge Fund Manager Rents Out AT&T Park As Concession Workers Near Strike Over Low Wages:
The reason this is particularly funny/sad is because it is a perfect caricature of class issues in the U.S. right now. Those who made their money off of other people’s mortgages, enjoy a lazy afternoon, spending several million (rather than making use of the park like everyone else) to tout their privilege, while the poor, most in deep debts, work hard daily at low wage, and they need to compromise their own position to even ask for a small raise. (I bet you if you took a survey of the ethnicity of the “hedge fund buddies” and of the concession workers, you’d find the former are mostly white, while the latter are mostly people of colour.) But of course, as the commenters below argue, the two events are not related in any way at all.
