We Found Out Whether Kim Kardashian's Tape Trick Actually Works

Spoiler alert: Gaffer's tape hurts like hell!

By now, you've probably seen this picture of Kim Kardashian's boobs covered in tape. But it's actually not a sexy Home Depot ad. It's her "cleavage secret"!

Basically, Kim uses gaffer's tape (typically used by production crews to tape down cables) as a makeshift over-the-shoulder bra to make her boobs appear perkier in plunging necklines.

You may be asking yourself, "Does that actually work?!" Well, we wondered the same thing, so we made it our mission to find out.

Ali, 34C, before and after using the tape:

Ali's thoughts: This dress has the lowest neckline I own, and I think it does a nice job of showing a little cleavage without putting me in danger of a nip slip. The tape can only do so much when you don't have as much raw material to work with.

I bent over from the waist so that my boob would naturally float upwards, and then I started taping it up from that position. If I went out dancing, those babies would be holding steady and not bouncing around or falling out of my dress. With that said, I think a good push-up bra could produce a similar effect, without the awkward and restricting feeling you get from putting tape on your body. Also, taking it off felt like someone was peeling layers of my skin off of my body after I'd been burned with acid. I'd much rather just unhook a padded bra.

Would you recommend this method? Not for anyone who values their skin, or has a low threshold for pain.

Ali also had horrendous marks on her shoulders from the tape.

Nina, 34D, before and after using the tape:

Nina's thoughts: Honestly, I have pretty saggy boobs. I wouldn't dare leave the house without a bra, which is why I don't own things like this plunging bodysuit. I'd be picking my boobs up off the floor all day or trying to make sure they haven't escaped.

OK, I may be smiling in my after photo, but I am SCREAMING on the inside. Using gaffer's tape to hoist your boobs up hurts! For someone with larger breasts like mine, it's a real strain on your shoulders. It also had this weird effect of wrinkling some of my boob skin? Maybe I didn't do it right. But I have to say, I've never seen my cleavage be that perky before, and I like it. Oh, and if you're going to try this and have long hair, TIE IT UP. The tape will rip it out!

Would you recommend this method? Maybe for an Instagram shot, but not for anything longer. It's too painful.

Susan, 34A/32B, before and after using the tape:

Susan's thoughts: I'm a huge proponent of ditching the bra. My boobs aren't that big, so you can't see them at all underneath this shirt, but I wouldn't change a thing about ’em. *sunglasses emoji here*

At first, it looked as if the tape did nothing — which, lol. But there's definitely more definition to my boobs — and they look slightly perkier. My boobs feel even more like prisoners than when I had my bra on. They're literally taped down. Sure, this seems like an easy way to get more cleavage, but it's still more work than doing nothing. All in all, I don't see myself ever using the tape. It doesn't make THAT much of a difference.

Would you recommend this method? Hmm... Yeah, I could see myself recommending this trick to a girl friend. Why not? I feel like some of my friends would appreciate this trick more than I do.

Sheridan, 38F, before and after using the tape:

Sheridan's thoughts: I love this dress but it's been sitting in my closet because I can never find the right bra to wear with it — everything goddamn shows. And going without a bra in it is not a possibility since my saggylicious tits would probably slide out faster then you can say "misdemeanor public nudity."

I have to admit that my boobs look pretty good, if not a little far apart. I almost feel like the tape makes my boobs look a little too...perfect. My boobs were sitting up somewhat high for the first time since eighth grade, and it was almost a little too high — the shape doesn't exactly scream "natural cleavage!" to me. Well, now I guess I'm just one step closer to being Kim K. All I need to do now is marry a rapper who's a genius but also a douche, give my children one-syllable names that sounded like a really good idea at the time, and work out with my makeup on.

Would you recommend this method? If you enjoy the warm, sensual feeling of placing large amounts of tape upon your bosom, and then almost ripping off your nipples at the end of the day, then go for it. Imma pass.

All in all, we learned that while gaffer's tape does provide some lift, it REALLY hurts! So you're probably better off not trying this at home. Your skin and boobs will thank you later.
