Why I Should Have Kept My Clothes From Middle School

What comes around goes around. If I could have predicted the future, I would have held onto my clothes from middle school. Here are five 90s trends that are cool again:

1. Cut Off Jean Shorts:

Middle School was the first time I wore “short” shorts. Cut-offs were in, and I felt a more grown up showing a little skin. Now that I actually am a grown-up, cut-offs are back in full swing. Go all-out and pair with a 90s band tee like Nirvana or Guns and Roses.

2. Floral Skater Dresses:

Back in the day, I loved wearing light-weight, floral-patterned dresses. Come fall, I’d wear the same dress with a t-shirt underneath. Once winter hit, I’d pull on a pair of leggings. Today loose-fit, floral-print dresses are making a major comeback. Throw on a pair of sneakers and you’ll be ready for anything.

3. Bold Sweaters:

When I started high school I couldn’t wait to get rid of my funky-patterned sweaters. If only I’d known... patterned sweaters are back in new crazy colors. Get your grunge on and pair with cut-off jean shorts and doc martin boots.

4. Light Wash Jeans:

Light-wash jeans were pretty much the uniform in middle school. If you didn’t toss your pair, you’re in luck. Light-wash jeans are back in favor. Roll up the cuffs and wear with sneakers, boots, or heels.

5. Bodysuits:

I have to admit, I never wore a bodysuit, but I saw the cool girls wearing them and always wanted to try. Thankfully, I have my opportunity. Cool girls are rocking the bodysuit everywhere from the street to the catwalk a la Cindy Crawford.
